The colors of the Weave
The Weave is an ever-shifting spectrum of colors, each representing a fundamental force that shapes existence. While rarely seen by mortal eyes, its strands flow through all things, from the burning embers of a fire to the silent decay of ancient ruins. Though no part of the Weave is ever truly monochrome, each color embodies a distinct aspect of reality, intertwining and blending as they form the foundation of the world.
The Primary Colors of the Weave
Red – Energy
The force that fuels motion, heat, and destruction, red is the essence of power in motion. It is seen in the roaring flames of a wildfire, the crackling fury of a lightning strike, and the raw force behind every explosion and impact. Where there is action, where something is set into motion, the red strands of the Weave are at play.
Blue – Entropy
The slow, inevitable flow of change and decay, blue is the Weave’s reflection of time itself. It is seen in the erosion of mountains, the ebb and flow of the tides, and the unravelling of all things given enough time. It is the silent, patient force that ensures nothing remains the same forever. All things break down, shift, and reform—this is the work of blue.
Yellow – Will
The force of desire, thought, and intent, yellow is the color that represents the mind and purpose. Every spell cast, decision made, or path chosen carries traces of yellow, for it is the guiding force behind creation and control. Without will, nothing would be shaped, nothing would be directed. It is the fire of ambition, the unseen force behind all magic, and the clarity of a mind set on a goal.
The Complementary Colors of the Weave
When time (blue), energy (red), and will (yellow) weave together, they form the aspects of permanence—the great forces that define the material world. These secondary colors represent the enduring aspects of existence, where the raw forces of the primary colors settle into something more structured.
Green – Growth (Will + Entropy)
Green is the color of life, renewal, and the cycles of nature. It is seen in forests stretching toward the sky, roots weaving through stone, and the endless renewal of the wilds. It carries both yellow’s will to thrive and blue’s slow, steady change, ensuring that even in death, something new will take its place.
Purple – Arcane Force (Will + Energy)
Purple is the woven form of structured magic, the direct shaping of the Weave through discipline, knowledge, and power. Where yellow represents will in its raw form, purple is will harnessed, bent to create spells, enchantments, and magical constructs. It is the color of control over the chaotic forces of existence.
Orange – Foundation (Energy + Entropy)
Orange represents transformation, endurance, and the shaping of the world itself. It is seen in mountains rising from the earth, molten rock cooling into stone, and civilisations building atop the ruins of the past. It carries red’s power and motion, tempered by blue’s inevitable change, forming something lasting yet ever-evolving.
The Soul and the White Light
Souls do not carry just one color, nor do they bend to a singular force of the Weave. Instead, a soul shines with white light—the presence of the entire Weave within a single being. Unlike the conscious mind, which bends the yellow weave of will, it is the soul that truly shapes reality. When a creature desires something with all their being, it is not their mind that bends the Weave but their very existence that pulls its colors toward them, reshaping the world in turn. A soul’s will, unshaken and undiluted, can move the Weave in ways that no spellcaster ever could.
