Through this song, they invoke the Keeper’s essence, inviting it to undergo the transformation into a living ship. The Wardens have little control over the ship’s final form or temperament; instead, the process is guided by the dedication, wisdom, and strength of the Elves who became one with the Verdant Keeper. This mystical connection results in ships that embody the traits of those Elves, each vessel taking on a unique character and purpose.
Once a Verdant Keeper has transformed, the ship awakens with a sentience that reflects the Keeper’s spirit, requiring careful attention and respect from its crew. As stewards of these ships, The Emerald Wardens are responsible for understanding and honoring each vessel’s unique needs and temperament. They learn to communicate with the ship’s consciousness, a delicate bond cultivated through regular rituals, songs, and offerings. The Wardens also train those who will captain these ships, teaching them to treat the vessel not merely as transport but as a trusted companion. In rare instances, multiple Verdant Keepers join to create a single, larger ship, resulting in vessels with dual or even triune consciousnesses. These ships are deeply complex and sometimes challenging to navigate, as their multiple spirits require harmony among their crew and a balanced approach to command.
