Iorus
One of the most successful First Breath colonies of Humanity, Iorus has become a bucolic world ruled by elected royalty.
Geography
The surface of Iorus is covered by dense swamps, rolling grass plains, seas and verdant hills. The largest mountain chain, the Don Gallo Mountains, bisect the largest continent and divide the great grass plains of the north from the swamps and bayous in the south. Even further south of these swamps is the great, sea-like Lake Herbert, where at the bottom lie giant oyster beds. The nearby Lake Country is an area known for its natural beauty, and is home to many vacation estates.

Iorus has a Standard gravity of 1.0G. The local day is 29 Standard hours long, and its year equals 315 local days. Irous is orbited by 4 moons.
Climate
Irous has a warmer climate, rarely getting below 0 degrees C even in the coldest times of the year. Snowfall is extremely rare. While its hotter periods can see temperatures rise to as high as 35 degrees C, winds and rain will typically cool even the hottest of days.
History
Iorus was one of the more successful Human colonies from the First Breath sleeper ships that were sent from lost Terra Firma. Upon arrival, Humans began building settlements and exploring the world. Finding few predators or other major dangers, they began to settle intoa fairly pastoral lifestyle. As the population grew, a constitution was written that created a representative council and an elected monarchy. The capital city of Capitalia was raised, designed by the famed architects of the time to be a city of beauty and splendor while still being functional.
In the early years of the Second Breath, Iorus was re-discovered by KaLa explorers and began to rejoin the greater galactic civilization. For a brief time, it was conquered by the Myrr Confederation, only to be liberated by Aardyman the Terrible. Ultimately, it joined the fledgling Free Worlds League, a precursor to the Galactic Republic. During the Republic Era, the planet saw significant immigration and thus the government amended their constitution - while any lawful citizen can be elected to the ruling council, only a direct descendant from the Founding Families can be elected as monarch for a term of ten years. Iorus was a full member of the Republic, sending a senator to Petrion to advocate for their interests.
Iorus did not see any fighting during the fall of the Republic or the rise of the First Galactic Empire. Based on their location in the galaxy, they eventually were absorbed into the Chezun Protectorate under the control of the Great House of Jian ad its current leader, Elector Prince Maximillian. When the Empire fell and the Second Dark Age descended, Iorus was one of the lucky planets that was not lost to the infamous Capellan virus.
Most recently, Prince Cosimo Anafesto, Lord of the Helios League, has been discussing Irous changing their allegiance from the Chezun Protectorate to the Helios League. While the ruling council worries that this bold move might subject the planet to reprisals from House Jian, the recently elected young monarch is warm to the idea.
