Iasis Character in The Fruit of War | World Anvil

Iasis (EYE-uh-siss)

Great One (a.k.a. 'The Receiver', 'The Pillar', 'The Embrace')

Iasis is one of the small pantheon venerated by the Order of the Burning Crown known as The Great Ones, and typified as an Ega/earth (but also in some respects death) deity. Iasis is more equal to Ieb than Goas or Xados and far more neutral.   In the creation myth Placing of the Crown, Icalar was created when The Great Ones decided to create a place of safety for the chosen; Iasis' role was to raise a segment of land purified by Xados. It is known as the titular 'burning crown' because of the words Iasis spoke: "Lo, I have placed a burning crown atop the horrors of the world -- never forget that what is raised is only by virtue of what is below."   In the Burning Crown doctrine, one's morality in life determines the quality of soul and body that will be returned to Iasis -- i.e., that which supports us and keeps us raised above the horrors below, therefore a pious person is seen as something that will strengthen not just the metaphysical/physical crown, but our continued worthiness in the eyes of Ieb.
