Cartel Organization in The Fruit of War | World Anvil

Cartel

The Cartel is the collective proper noun for all eova gilds.   Eova gilds are familial -- but not necessarily blood-tied -- clans usually focused around a particular trade, profession, or natural resource. Although technically nomadic, they will settle in an area for however long it remains economically fruitful and move on once the resource or advantage has been depleted. Loyalty to one's gild more often than not takes precedence over loyalty to one's friends, blood relations, or even local or national authorities. Their primary concern is profit and trade clout over any kind of military presence, though they do take the security of their assets very seriously.   They are classed into two types -- gild majora and gild minora -- with the gild majora having authority over the minora and multiple minora supplying a single majora in cartel-like fashion. As with eova surnames, they typically follow the 'double-noun' or 'adjective-noun' naming convention; some eova will even deliberately alter or change their surnames to nod to their gild majora (or alternatively, very old eova families may have names that match or resemble their gild's). They are referred to as 'Gild [Gild Name]'.   Gild Majora: Bloodgrove, Firetalon, Sunthief   Gild Minora: Whitewell, Axestone, Runetree, Bluemarsh, Brokenbridge, Bitterway, Deepriver, Cloudbinder   One of their significant contributions to broader society is the Writ of Fair Exchange, which forms a strong spine for international trade (especially currency exchanges).

Structure

They are classed into two types -- gild majora and gild minora -- with the gild majora having authority over the minora and multiple minora supplying a single majora in cartel-like fashion. This relationship is referenced as 'gild minora to', or 'gild majora to'.   Although the gild majora are meant to have equal standing, Gild Bloodgrove is beginning to take a stronger, monopolistic hold on more and more gild minora, trade, and territory; solitary eova and gild minora that do not follow its pressures often leave the country or seek the shelter of another gild majora, and even the other gild majora are beginning to avoid Bloodgrove territory.

Religion

None held; eova are usually atheistic in nature.
