AA Inc. "Tangleweb" Autonomous Fire Support Platform

The Araken Arms Inc. “Tangleweb” Autonomous Fire Support Platform is one of the many configurations of the Araken Arms Inc. Modular Weapons Platform combat drone. It’s main function is to provide suppression fire and anti light vehicle countermeasures using it's rotary plasma burst cannon and dumb-fire high-explosive missile launcher, either as an autonomous frontline unit or as a support auxiliary for infantry. It derives it's call sign from the Basic translation of the Araken Tangleweb Spider, an arachnid native to the Araken homeworld Tennon II, known for hurling globs of sticky webbing at it's prey as it persues, bogging it down under a rapidly accumulating pile of dense and sticky silk threads that catch and stick to the foliage of the jungles on Tennon II before the spider delivers a precise and highly venomous sting to it's prey.

As with most configurations of the AA Inc. Modular Weapons Platform there are several exploitable weaknesses that an opponent can use against the Tangleweb.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The "head" module of the Tangleweb contains a rotary plasma burst cannon for anti-infantry suppression and neutralization, located on the right hand side of the module, and a drum-fed dumb-fire high-explosive missile launcher used for the neutralization of light-armour vehicles. Within the module's "eye" is a sophisticated sensory suite for accurate identification and targeting of hostile combatants.

See AA Inc. Modular Weapons Platform for additional details of the leg portion of the drone.

Significance

The Tangleweb is named after one of the most beloved wild animals on the Araken homeworld Tennon II, the Tangleweb Spider, an animal of cultural significance similar to the Terran bear. Many Araken children have grown up with stuffed Tanglewoodies (a translation from Old Araken into Basic, the original name was a play on the given name of the queen of Tennon II's Northern continent several thousand years ago. According to old records, she had small stuffed effigies of Tangleweb Spiders made for the children of her Queendom in order to provide those children with a comfort toy to distract from the 15 Years War occurring at the time).
