The Iron One

The Bloody and Vengeful Lord of the Goblin-Men

The Iron One was one of the gods who participated in the Great Betrayal, and was imprisoned as a result, giving him a physical essence. Unlike the Horned King or the Prince of Undeath who were imprisoned in the Lower Planes, or the Whisperer Below who lay beneath the earth, the Iron One was banished to a far corner of the universe, a lonesome plane of stone and metal. None truly know how, but eventually, the Iron One escaped, making him the only god to do so. Unable to kill the gods directly, he resolved to lay waste to their followers. To do so, he slew all of the demon-lords and arch-devils that the goblin-men of the Borderlands worshiped, taking the Fallen Folk into his unholy army, and commands them to lay waste to all the races that betrayed him. To this day, the Iron One is the cosmic equivalent of a vagabond, wandering the universe to escape the judgment of gods and plot against them.

Divine Domains

  • The Iron One is the patron of goblins, and is associated with vengeance and imprisonment.
  • He has become associated with slave-takers, conquest, and war.
  • Clerics of the Iron One typically choose between the Death, Order, and War domains. Paladins dedicated to him might swear the Oath of Conquest or the Oath of Vengeance. However, the Iron One only accepts goblins and their ilk as his followers, and refuses to grant power to anyone else.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

  • The physical form of the Iron One is a towering figure in an ornate suit of armor, adorned with armor spikes and other barbaric accessories. From within his horned helm peer two blood-red eyes, not of this world.
  • The traditional holy symbol of the Iron One is a length of chain in a circle. The chains represent his obvious focus on slavery and imprisonment, but the circle speaks to the cyclical nature of vengeance. Flails and whips are his favored weapons.
  • The Iron One's name appropriately associates him with stone and metal. He is associated with gray and black.

Tenets of Faith

  • Honor the Iron One by Destroying and Enslaving the lesser races, and Wreak His bloody Vengeance upon the followers of all other Gods.
  • Blood must be Repaid with Blood. Let no Offense go Unpunished.
