The Whisperer Below

The Sower of Fear and Madness, the Lurker in the Dark, the Black Blood of the Veins of the Earth

During the Times of Strife, the Whisperer was a very different god; far from noble, but at least dignified in his conception. A cowardly creature, he was easily convinced to move against the other deities. But for his betrayal, he was cast, into the depths of the earth, where his form and mind were broken and twisted into the Whisperer Below. Now, he is the god of fear and the unknown, patron of the mad, and the master of the endless tunnels below the surface. His mere presence has shaped it into the realm of unspeakable horror, and he calls its terrible inhabitants his subjects and creations. But, for all his unimaginable cruelty, he is a patient entity, lurking in the dark, where he is at home.

Divine Domains

• The Whisperer Below is the god of the Lands Below, and other dark places, and his faith concerns secrets, deception, corruption, and madness.

• Clerics of the Whisperer Below may choose from the Death and Trickery domains, while Paladins would typically swear the Oath of the Oathbreaker. Warlocks may form pacts with the Whisperer Below, gaining the benefits of the Great Old One Patron.

Holy Books & Codes

• The faculties of the Whisperer Below are deteriorating over time, and he is losing the ability to meaningfully communicate with his followers. Most religious texts have become outmoded and lost to time.

• The symbol of the Whisperer Below is a silver, violet, white spiral set against a black background.

Tenets of Faith

• Revere the Sacred Nature of the Dark and Places of Shadow. Honor Them by working in Secret, and Knowing what others Do Not.

• Take All that the Light touches, and Plunge it into Darkness. Sow Fear, Corruption, Madness, and Deceit wherever you go.

• Revel in the Pain and Suffering you inflict upon Others. It is penance for the Suffering of the Whisperer Below.
