The Horned King

Arch-Devil of the Lower Planes, Lord of Pride, and Supreme Master of the Lords of Sin

During the Times of Strife, the Horned King was the leader of the Great Betrayal to force the others and grant power to human servants, in exchange for their souls. For this, he was imprisoned in the Lower Planes, where he was thought to be banished forever. But, even there, the Horned King was able to extend his dark influence, and corrupt the minds of men. And from his hellish prison, he created the devils in his own likeness to serve him, as well (the King himself appears as a towering, robed pit fiend). His servants seek to corrupt, deceive, and conquer all, and have a particular fondness for enslaving their enemies (physically, or mentally). However, the Horned King maintains a legalistic sort of code in his dealings, and his bargains -- of which there are many -- are always upheld. He keeps the proverbial trains running on time, and as such, finds sympathizers among those who value efficiency, law, and order above altruism.

Divine Domains

  • The Horned King is the patron of tyrants and slavers alike. He is associated with power, authority, and the sin of pride.
  • The Horned King is also the god of bargains and contracts, of which he makes many. And his abuse of his own contracts' loopholes have earned him a reputation as a god of lies and trickery.
  • The Horned King is the unquestioned ruler of the Lower Planes, and all demons and devils.
  • Clerics of the Horned King most likely choose from the Order or Trickery domains, and paladins almost always swear the Oath of Conquest. Many warlocks of the Fiend are dedicated to the Horned King.

Holy Books & Codes

  • The Horned King sports the most massive religious text of all: the Infinite Accords.
  • The book is several thousand pages long, and contains innumerable laws and customs; the tome's preface states that the souls of those who fail to follow even one stricture are forfeit to the Horned King. Acolytes are expected to study it end-to-end.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

  • The holy symbol of the Horned King is a seven-pointed star (representing the Seven Lords of Sin).

Tenets of Faith

  • The Path to Dominance requires Ambition, Cunning, and Ruthlessness. However, True Power also requires the Respect of those Below You. You must follow a Code to Uphold your Dealings.
  • Understand Every Aspect of your Self and your Codes, lest You be Exploited Yourself.
  • Study the Law, for it shall Serve You Well. It is Always better to take Without Despoiling or Destroying, for it represents the Virtues as You walk the Path to Dominance.
