An earnest devotee of Edius, The Fire That Purifies, Antonious Ignis is sent from the Adza Oasis monastery of the Paladins of Aelos while they prepared to mobilize to aid—or cleanse—the city of Anekhsemeru. Antonious' orders were to find and aid Brother Theophilus Chandler in his quest to stop the The Return of Reshpu. Valiant and chivalrous the young paladin trekked alone into the pathless wilderness of the Senu Desert, guided by his faith and the unmistakable trail of La Compagnia.

His journey was arduous, but his faith never wavered. While investigating a Yafwadi encampment in the ruins of an ancient Rexan watch tower, he was set upon by Yafwad Ghazi. During this fight, some members of La Compagnia, led by Riven Telstandis also arrived while performing reconnaissance. He agreed to help clear the Yafwadi presence in exchange for being taken to see Brother Theo.

Antonious was aware from La Compagnia's visits to Adza, that Brother Theo traveled with outlaws and those who did not share the true, Ouranic faith, but was unaware that his coalition had come to include a Dhenian druid or a cleric of one of the proscribed Khemian gods. Keeping Theo safe may be even more of a challenge than he expected.
