The Lighthouse
The land-based HQ of Frederick's Pirate Crew. It sits high on the cliffs above the Sea Cave. The nearest town is Highrock, about a half-mile away.
Purpose / Function
The Lighthouse shows Frederick's Pirate Crew the location of their hideout in the night and serves as a waymarker during the day. The Bold Leviathan docks in the large Sea Cave cut into the cliffs below it.
Architecture
The Lighthouse is an old stone tower fifty feet wide at its base and eighty feet high. It has five floors, made of wood, that support the levels above. Trapdoors and ladders provide access to the level above, and a simple pulley system is set up on each floor on the opposite side of the ladder that can bring goods up from the floor below it through a second, double-doored trapdoor.
Defenses
The building is solidly built and each floor can easily be defended by just bring up the ladders and the platforms for the cargo system. Beyond that, there is nothing to defend the lighthouse from attack.
History
Once this lighthouse was just a watch-tower, then it became a lighthouse, then a ruin in 1357 DR. Since then it's been left derelict until King Derid deeded it over to Fredrick's company. Then Fredrick and his men took it by force from the bandits that had held it. To be fair it took very little force, mostly it was target practice for Randall. Randall taught the bandits to fear thunder with the barrel of his weapon.
