Chiyo

Chiyo was the wife of Furuyama no Hisatoki and former matriarch of the Furuyama Clan. Born into a noble family from Nakoku in Kibi Province, she moved to Ittoyama in Izumo after it was arranged for her to marry into the Furuyama clan. She was accompanied by her loyal maidservant, Fuku.

She was the mother of four sons: Sadanori, Furuyama no Mitsuyori, Furuyama no Nakayori, and Furuyama no Toshimori. Though she loved her sons, she lamented never having a daughter.
