Zarn Pheasant

The Zarn Pheasant was found wild in the woods on the edge of the Zard Hills many generations ago until relatively recently when they where hunted to near extension because they became a delicacy among some and and a staple food source for others. In addition the feathers became part of flamboyant head dresses by the rich in some parts. At some point it was decided by a farmer to bread them and sell them a good price because of the rarity. A few more farmers bought into this at difference successes. The birds also became part of the festival of ....... in Abervinzard where they where relished on one of the days in build up to the festival.   The pheasants are famously noisy especially in breeding season where they try to attract mates by singing. This may be one of the reasons they got there name Zard Hills meaning singing hills but this is still not proven.   The male pheasant is usually between 35 - 40 inches long including a tail that is roughly 25 inches long. They appear to have a base colour of black around most of the body. On top of that the rest of the body has multiple colours to show it's self off. They have red around the eye and the front of the neck is blue with the back being black then there is a gold band around the base of the neck. The wings are blue and gold with white and or black patches. Then there is the main body which is a dusty red with patches of green.   The female pheasant is usually between 30 - 35 inches long including a tail that is roughly 20 inches long. The colour is less flamboyant as the male as it's the male's job to attract the female. The colour being grey with patches of black and usually a black band around the neck
