The Foretelling

It is a widely held belief that when a Duke of the Five Realms dies, his last words are a foretelling of future dangers or glories to come. His last words are announced to the citizenry at his state funeral. Much time is spent by all trying to puzzle out deeper meaning from a dying mans last breath.
When the Duke of Dalishae recently died, his deathbed utterances were not spoken to the crowds. Instead a pleasant meaningless little fiction was announced instead. For his final words were undeniably a foretelling of the most dire portent.
These are the words that keep the new Duke Jaspar Chalcedon up at night worrying;

A pact must be made.

An oath must be broken.

A life must be saved.

An evil must be woken.

A trust betrayed.

An enemy released.

A kind soul frayed.

A daemon leashed.

All this must be complete

before an heir is born

or mankind will face defeat

as sounds destruction's horn
