Umbramancy (UHM-bruh-MAN-see)
"Once upon a time, the darkness was all there was. It did not attack, or roar, or rip at flesh as many have trained it to do. It cradled all of non-existence in its arms, as a mother would an infant... and waited patiently. Its patience was rewarded with everything you see before you. But even still, in corners and pockets, the darkness remembers the time before time. It only knows what it is taught. It is up to us to teach it right from wrong. So, be kind, and teach well. And with luck, you shall make a powerful ally, but more than that... a fast friend." —Erebos, God of DarknessUmbramancy, also called umbrakinesis or simply darkness magic, is a class of magic involving the manipulation and weaponization of darkness.
Effect
Umbramancy is primarily used as a weapon, but using darkness as a tool of somekind is not unheard of.
Side/Secondary Effects
Common side-effects for novice umbramancers include blinding oneself or others, as well as accidentally slipping into their own shadow, with no way to get out.
Manifestation
The manifestation of umbramancy varies greatly by the spell, but across all spells, the main indication is darkness.
Source
Umbramancy is commonly drawn from either the user's internal magic pool, or the ambient magic around them.
Discovery
Umbramancy was born with and first used by Erebos, the God of Darkness. From there, it was taught to his devils, then gifted and taught to mortals.
