Toxikinesis (TOCKS-ih-kin-EE-sis)

"You will never find peace as a toximancer. This is the first thing you should know. Poison's reputation precedes it, and as such, people will always look upon you with suspicion. Anything you have on you, when laced with poison, can become a deadly weapon. But many forget that modern medicine sprang forth from fungus, that antivenoms are created only with the corresponding venom in mind. Some even use toxins to prevent themselves from aging. If you wish to pursue the path of poison, be prepared to receive it from others, verbally. Protect yourself, because no one else will."  Lilith, Goddess of Poison
Toxikinesis, also known as toximancy or simply poison magic, is a class of magic involving the manipulation and weaponization of poison.

Effect

Toxikinesis has two primary uses: weaponization, or healing. Which one is used depends on the character of the magician, and some are trained in both.

Side/Secondary Effects

The most common effect of toxikinesis is poisoning oneself or others, often fatally. Many toxikinetics give up within their first year of practice for this exact reason, believing themselves to be "cursed" or no longer wishing to use their ability. Only the most focused and well-trained toximancers manage to avoid this fate and devote themselves to their craft.

Manifestation

The manifestation of toxikinesis varies greatly, both by the spell and the source. Lethal substances are present in many different forms. This can include the neuro- or cytotoxins present in mushrooms, to the venom found in animals such as snakes and spiders. Even the air can become poison, for the practiced toxikinetic, transforming the oxygen around them into lethal carbon monoxide, dioxide, even gasses such as neon, argon, or fluorine.

Source

Toxikinesis is commonly drawn from either the user's internal magic pool, or the ambient magic around them.

Discovery

Toxikinesis was born with and first used by Lilith, the Goddess of Poison. From there, it was gifted and taught to mortals.

Material Components
Due to the many substances in the world that are universally lethal to life, a toxikinetic's palette is as broad as their imagination, for better or worse. It is incredibly rare to see a toxikinetic starved for resources; those well-versed in the scientific elements are often able to use magic to bring them forward.

Applied Restriction
There are very few ways to prevent toxikinetics from performing magic. In a true vacuum, their abilities are useless, but creating such an environment is both difficult and expensive. Fellow toxikinetics are able to negate their counterpart's magic, but as previously stated, many toxikinetics concede within a year of practice, acting as a sort of "filter" for only the most dedicated toxikinetics to come through. The most universal way to stop any sort of magic is with anti-spells, or managing to trap a toxikinetic magician within a magical "dead zone".
