Olivia Bennett (a.k.a. The Night Writer)

Olivia Bennett is a human, and an experienced atramancer.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Olivia is a relatively short girl with a slim build.

Physical quirks

Olivia's dominant hand is her left.

Special abilities

  • Atramancy: Olivia is a skilled atramancer, or "ink magician", and can control ink in many different ways. Her abilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
    • Atramantic Flight/Surfing: Olivia can propel herself/surf through the air by riding a "cloud" of ink. She can also do so by shooting high pressure jets of ink behind her, usually from her hands or feet.
    • Creation: Atramancers have inherent artistic skill and, if they wish to pursue it, make the best artists: they can accurately and quickly draw whatever they want incredibly well. However, to reach this level, they must have extensive knowledge of the thing they're trying to create; for example, if they were to draw a human being, they would need to have a complex understanding of anatomy before attempting it. In this way a novice atramancer would only be able to proficiently make simple shapes, whereas a skilled artist atramancer has full control and accuracy of anything they care to make. Anything drawn or painted, when willed to do so, becomes real; the only catch is that it is entirely made out of liquid ink. Additionally, creatures they create, original or no, become as alive and intelligent as any animal. This ability works best on paper, though can be done on nearly any flat surface. Obviously, having mastered her craft, there's very little Olivia cannot make.
    • Forgery Mastery (only applies to paper documents and not items such as keycards, identification badges, et cetera.)
    • Ink Generation
      • Ink Rain Generation
    • Ink Mimicry: Olivia can turn parts, or her whole body, into ink. While in this form she moves about like a slime.
    • Ink Solidification
      • Atramantic Construct/Creature Creation: This includes giving herself extra arms, a tail, wings, and additional appendages such as tentacles.
      • Decoy/Substitution Creation: Olivia can create, and control clones of herself made from ink.
      • Ink Armor
      • Ink Bindings/Restraints
      • Ink Weaponry
    • Poisoning: By forcing the ink through a person's nose or mouth, Olivia can very easily and quickly poison someone, to the point of being in critical condition. This is a power that she rarely uses, though.
    • Projected Thermography: Olivia can imprint marks and writing onto surfaces, and does not require tools such as pens or markers to do so. This includes text, pictures, paintings, etc.

Apparel & Accessories

Olivia, when not stealing, will wear casual clothes like jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts, as well as a hair tie to keep it in a ponytail. When she's on a heist, she wears an all-black cloak with a gold fastener, and black, comfortable clothes. She wears black flats while stealing.

Personal history

The circumstances regarding Olivia's birth are not known, but it is known that her mother left Olivia at an orphanage when she was an infant. Olivia was fairly unnoticeable and didn't stick out much at the orphanage; most of the other orphans ignored her. That is, until Olivia discovered she had a talent for hydrokinesis. As she showed off her tricks to the other orphans, they were enthralled and impressed, and Olivia enjoyed the attention. She would often learn new spells to show off the next time she performed, and even the orphanage caretaker would occasionally stop and watch. For a time, Olivia was happy.   But not long after, the announcement from the human government came, stating that the other races were dangerous, and all magic was to be prohibited. Within hours of this announcement, the other orphans began to turn on Olivia, calling her a witch or demon, and they no longer wanted to see her do her water magic. Shunned by the others around her, Olivia ran away from the orphanage in the middle of the night, becoming homeless.   Life for Olivia in the following years was hard. She could rarely find food or clean water, and had no other clothes to wear besides her initial outfit. However, every so often a kindly stranger or two would stop and give her bread or bottled water, and she managed to survive. Then, one day, something happened that Olivia would never forget. In downtown Zytria, there was a well-known ink factory, used for pens and other writing utensils. Without warning, while Olivia was sitting nearby and eating a loaf of bread, the factory essentially exploded, sending a colossal wave of black ink through the city and into the air. While most people ran (and as Olivia was about to herself), she noticed that in the light, the ink shimmered a deep red, like a gemstone or precious metal. Olivia was spellbound, and for a few moments, watched the ink glitter and shine. Then, as the wave approached, she came to her senses and ran.   That night, while Olivia was sitting around a fire she'd made, she continued thinking about what she'd seen. The ink had been so pretty, and she wanted to see it again. Then, she had a thought. She was already a hydromancer, and ink was a liquid. Surely, if it was possible to control water, she could control other fluids as well? Olivia was determined to try. It wasn't easy, and she basically had to relearn hydromancy from scratch, as it withered from lack of use. But as she practiced, she eventually grew proficient at it. As she practiced, she remembered the orphanage that had chased her away, and her resolve grew stronger, as she vowed to get revenge. By the time Olivia was 14, she was an excellent atramancer. Without hesitation, she did her best to find her way back to the orphanage she had been raised in. To her dismay and disappointment, it had been boarded up and condemned; only the empty building remained now. Angry, and unfulfilled, Olivia sent ink into every crack and brick of the building, and with one swift motion, caused it to implode.   She knew that if she stayed, she would likely be found by human authorities, so she fled the scene. Now she knew that her ink could be used as a weapon and tool, not just for show, and her mind spun with the possibilities. But, she was reminded by her stomach, food came first. Olivia became a thief, stealing food, baked goods, and water wherever she could. With time, she heightened her thievery, stealing jewels, gemstones and gold, treasured items and water magic scrolls (to further her ability.) A bounty for Olivia eventually went public, but she didn't care. She felt the world had wronged her, especially humanity, so she decided she'd take everything she wanted, and gave nothing back. Soon, Olivia even gained her own criminal nickname, thanks to her ink: "The Night Writer".
