Ghenn

History

In the ancient stories, Ghenn is the void from which all things are born. Described throughout different cultures as a cosmic womb, a gray mother, a void of fire and ice, or even the world itself, Ghenn represents the power of raw universal fomentation, a space in which the contrary forces of creation and destruction churn out the endless possibilities of the universe.   Most stories say that harnessing these forces into a source of arcane power required a great sacrifice, usually in the form of the first mortal to understand and wield the powers of the Void. In some myths, the sacrifice is willing, in other myths he must be slain so that the physical, substantial world of the now can be made from his essence.   To others, the Void is merely a doorway behind which these raw forces can be glimpsed in an act of creation. Despite these differences, in most stories there is a common element of ice and fire, water and desert, and other opposing forces which beget lands and peoples. To those who eschew religion entirely, the powers of Void represents the thin line between creation and destruction in which perceivable reality precariously hangs, the substance and potentiality of all things.

Rituals

To the Ithaqui, Ghenn is a grand house filled with the dead and those yet to live, an empty and dark place that passes for the Ithaqui afterlife. Ghenn requires that a sacrifice be made to an empty dwelling.
