Kroanisbrud
Public Agenda
The service that the Kroanisbrud provide is most notably in battlefield training, both as allies and as enemies. Internally the clan recognises that their actual purpose is to ensure that those so connected to the weave of magic are properly trained to make sure that they don't go mad with as the pressure of the magic builds up over time. As such sorcerers are trained to release magic in controlled measures, as spells that act in the same prescribed ways as other casters, this controlled release effects how the spells flow from the weave.
History
In one of the many inter clan wars of the past the clan was sieged by several others. While the sorcerers were eventually beaten, having taken near critical losses. In one particular story, which is told as a warning for others and as inspiration to young sorcerers, tells of a narrow passage that was held by two sorcerers for 10 days against hundreds of foes. While they were eventually defeated this delay allowed the sorcerers to reposition and retreat to higher grounds with the young and infirmed. While eventually surrendering to the attacking clans, the attacking clans had taken such heavy losses that they fell from power shortly after as they were unable to hold their lands against others.
Demography and Population
The Kroanisbrud are a small but loud clan. With less than 500 members most live their lives within the traditional clan grounds, with nearly 100 members who are considered to be living in Lithelkos . The traditional clan grounds have, over time, been converted into a temple of sorts. With adequate spaces for rigorous magical training and quite contemplation. These grounds are located high in the mountains and in less stable times were easily defensible against larger, non-magical forces.
Foreign Relations
The Kroanisbrud find that their best working partnerships form with the Warrior clans in the lowlands of the country. This is mainly down to the ethos that, should Rantai Zamrud or it's people The Orangzamrud ever come under attack from an external threat, or an internal power struggle, they will be the most opportune allies.
To the unwitting outsider, the Kroanisbrud and the wizard clans perform the same function magically, their applications vary. The Kroanisbrud focus more on the practical applications of the weave's potential whereas the wizard clan focus more on expanding the limits of the weaves potential. Both have their uses within the society in Rantai Zamrud.
