What remains of the Etherium is cast in a thousand years of fear and Twilight.

Those who survived emerged from the rubble and ashes to find their skies dark except for undulating Threads of far distant light, that cast their Spheres in perpetual twilight. When they tried to employ their magic to heal or rebuild the effects were strange and unpredictable often causing harm to the casters. The remnants of their technology no longer functioned either broken beyond repair or unable to utilize their sources of power. Having nothing else to turn to in this nightmare they prayed to their Gods, and we're not answered. Their prayers fell on dead ears and no direction was given. And so the peoples of the Etherium began to rebuild in the twilight of the Aether having to relearn primitive skills of survival, the uses of that which grows, crafting with crude iron and stone, without their Gods.
