Skrulan Empire

The Skruk, a lizardfolk people of ancient heritage, are recorded as the first to resettle the Osirion Wastes following the fall of Sekhemtara, Flame of the Holy Sands, during the twilight years of the Age of Titans.   In the aftermath of Sekhemtara’s collapse, the Skruk established the earliest permanent settlements along the River Skrula, the sole reliable source of fresh water in the central Wastes. From these initial communities, they expanded steadily along the river’s course, founding distant outposts and ultimately forming the political entity known as the Skrulan Empire.   In its formative centuries, the Skrulan Empire was characterized not by conquest, but by advancement. Learning, scientific inquiry, and cultural development were foundational to its early prosperity. The Skruk cultivated a society that valued resilience, discipline, and intellectual progress, forging an enduring civilization amid the harsh desert expanse.   This period of relative peace endured until the Skrulan Empire’s frontier encountered the western hives of the Ta'jak Dominion. Early relations between the two powers were marked by cautious diplomacy; no immediate hostilities erupted, though tensions were evident beneath the surface.   Over time, covert manipulations orchestrated by the Ta'jak Hivemind eroded the fragile balance. Coveting the lands and resources secured by the Skruk, The Hivemind initiated a campaign of subversion and eventual open aggression. Despite initial assumptions that the Skrulan Empire would collapse swiftly under pressure, the Skruk demonstrated exceptional endurance and fortitude.   When war became inevitable, the Skrulan Empire transitioned fully into a state of total war, embracing militarization with unwavering zeal. From that moment forward, the Skruk have pursued the defeat—and the complete eradication—of the Ta'jak Dominion with relentless determination, considering such efforts not merely a political necessity but a sacred duty born of betrayal.
