Bana Bluntbeak

Bana Bluntbeak is a smuggler of bodies, not goods—an Aven with a razor grin and sharper instincts. Operating primarily out of Y'Matara, she specializes in spiriting people away from danger, or justice, depending on who you ask.   Her network spans the breadth of the Free Cities of Al-Khet—a web of subtle messengers, coded symbols, and whispered names. Through this network, Bana keeps one eye on who’s running, and the other on who’s hunting them. Information flows to her like wind through feathers, and when the time comes, she vanishes into the dunes with her charges before the ink on the warrants has dried.   Bana has also had more than a few run-ins with the law—though “run-in” is a generous term. There is one Templar of Sethet-Ka who seems to pop up often enough that she’s begun to treat him like an old friend. Their exchanges are a dance: he, digging for truths beneath her cryptic quips; she, fluttering about like a desert wind, speaking in riddles and asking too many questions for someone who “sells parrot feathers and prayer beads.”   To him, she is merely that odd Aven girl—harmless, strange, and prone to calling sandstorms her “cousins.” He jokes that hawks are meant to be clever, and perhaps she missed that lesson. She always laughs too loud, always says something that might be nonsense—or might be a confession, if only he knew where to look.   He doesn’t realize he’s her alibi, her shield, and her leak all in one.
