Geography
Similar to Old Earth, Mars has a rocky surface that is split into canyons, lake beds, mountains and volcanoes. Unlike Old Earth though, Mars is known for its red dust (how it coined the name the Red Planet). A thin atmosphere is a slither of blue when the sun rises and falls over the many creator's edges. It's known that the northern hemisphere is a lot smoother than the southern, but there is still not an exact known reason for this (the best theory is Mars was hit on a lower angle and there the impact wasn't as evident on the other side of the planet).
Many of the small volcanoes are located in a place rightly named Hellas Planitia (eastern hemisphere), which is a large impact crater and extremely obvious if you're looking at Mars at the right time. However, in the western hemisphere, some of the largest volcanoes are located in the region of Tharsis, some of these volcanoes are also the largest in the solar system. You'll also find the biggest canyon system in the solar system, Valles Marineris. The north and south poles both have ice caps, like Old Earth. South is a lot smaller than north, both are made from water and when it becomes warm enough through Mars's season they melt.
When humans colonised the planet, establishing its first city Schiaparelli, there had already been major developments in terraforming the planet. With domes the size of mounties there was running water on Mars once again, but this time it was really made possible with the actual geography of the planet and more man-made under the domes. There was green grass and little red dust within these domes, you could see in the distance the dead red soil of the planet being harvested for wealth, the massive mountains and vast dried ocean beds and even the volcanoes that sat dormant.

Ecosystem
Inside Domes
The ecosystem within domes are made to stimulate the best Old Earth conditions possible, maintaining 4 seasons, regular natural progressions in climate change and even serve weather events! Connected to all the domes are ecology domes, these are made to house plant life, and their corresponding ecosystems in order to provide oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange. The reason Mars's atmosphere isn't used as there is an excessive amount of CO2, and there isn't enough plant life that will survive in such a dense CO2 environment.Ecosystem Cycles
Ecological systems are slightly longer than on Old Earth or Luna due to the slower orbit around the sun, however this is supported by ecology domes.
Natural Resources
Magnesium, Aluminium, Titanium, Iron, and Chromium are common on the planet, as well as other metals and organic materials.
History
Sovereigns sent people here to construct domes before they moved the children of the Luna and Old Earth civilisation here to begin their incredible network of slave camps. The first city Elysium was created in order to support the traffic and deployment of the slaves to their destinations. As things picked up, more domes were built and things improved science and technology wise, they created the city Schiaparelli for those who were decision makers and politicians---for the migration of Sovereign to the Red Planet. Finally, Solis Capital was built, for the new arrivals of the Sovereign Families who would take control of the planet and its slave colonies.
Since this final migration, the family de Avris have ruled over this planet and has kept things functional and developing. With the massive advances in science and agriculture, this planet has been a massive aid in the Sovereign's ability to expand across the solar system and build its own population to support the growth both interplanet and outer.
