The Caedaris Freelordship is a strong bulwark against the encroachment of Thorns along the northern coast of the Bay of Winds. The CAEDARIS family has remained true and loyal-at least publicly-to Rhone and the Throne. A Free Lordship along the south shore of the THORNLANDS, the CAEDARIS family is currently in a tense situation with the THORNLANDS and their ruler, the PRINCE OF THORNS. Originally targeted for recruitment into the PRINCE's plans for independence the CAEDARI family rebuked the offer and took up arms to hold their lands safe. This response was defensive in nature although THORNS and CAEDARIS have been involved in a number of lesser clashes in the past decade and a half with both being at fault. Relationships between the two neighboring domains have quieted down in recent years. The border remains tense but CAEDARIS has managed to retain all of their lands-due to their defensive posture-unlike some of their neighbors who adopted a far more aggressive stance against the rebel domain.
Notwithstanding the THORNLANDS, the CAEDARIS family is one of the most prominent Rhone family fiefs in the northeast. With their resources and experience it is only to be expected that they are ascending in importance and influence. Unfortunately, an old rivalry with MOERA has kept them from accumulating too much influence in the region. The two families are believed to be silently sparring for the assimilation as vassals those families weakened by constant strife with THORNS though little news of such makes its way south.
History
The CAEDARIS lineage stems from the older tribal leadership clan that held sway over these lands in times long past. During the 2nd Aenari War & Conquest, the CAEDARIS predecessors were able to come to terms with RHONE and be recognized as a noble house. Though their Rhonish assimilation occurred in the -80's, the bloodline stretches back to Time Immemorial. It was around -163BL, that the progenitors of the CAEDARIS clan-line rose to dominate the tribes inhabiting the shores south and west of the THORNLANDS where they remain to this day.
