High Elves

Classification: Common Race   High Elves are a sub-race of Elves , and were the first divergence from the original Elves to appear when the mortal races were first born into the The Emergent Plane. While all Elves possess a natural tendency toward magical skill, High Elves stand apart even from their other Elves in this regard, being some of the most innately gifted Wizards to be found anywhere in the world, likely due to them being a direct creation by Saraella herself.   As a general rule among their kind, they look down or in some cases even despise Warlocks, who gain their magic through contracts rather than a focus on learning and study as their mother-god Saraella would want. Additionally, despite their natural aptitude for higher-level spells, they generally tend to prefer the utilization of subtler magics when possible, as the very act of casting spells requires a manipulation of the underlying framework of magic created by Saraella, a framework they prefer to not warp too heavily as they tend to view it as somewhat of an insult to their goddess.   High Elves, like all Elves , tend to be tall, slender, and ethereal in their appearance, but even among Elvenkind the High Elves stand apart, frequently described as having an otherworldly, almost alien beauty. They tend to be haughty and aloof, even by Elves standards, which leads most races to dislike them. While not openly disrespectful as a species, High Elves tend to speak in condescending tones are make subtle jabs at the other mortal races. That said, they are not incapable of respect, and should someone earn that respect, they can rest assured that it is an unwavering to a high degree.   High Elves are split into two further subcategories, Sun Elves and Moon Elves. Both are High Elves, and whether a High Elf is born under the sun or the moon is usually the deciding factor.   Sun Elves predominantly have bronze skin and copper, blond, or sometimes black hair, and their eyes can be a range of colors but tend toward gold or copper, with hazel and silver occurring occasionally. They're more isolationist and arrogant than Moon Elves, and are most likely the origin of the High Elf reputation for being aloof and haughty comes from.    Moon Elves are more commonly found in the cities of other mortal races. Whether it is this fact that has led them to be more tolerant of other races than their Sun Elf brethren or their tolerance led them to become more populous in non-Elven settlements is unknown, but regardless they are notably the more sociable and understanding of the shorter-lived humanoid races. Moon Elves tend to have pale white or slightly blue-tinged skin tones, with black, silver, or blue hair and eyes that are either blue or green, sometimes with flecks of gold.
