Dark Elves

Classification: Rare Races   The mysterious Dark Elves (or "Drow" as they are sometimes called) are an enigma to the races that live on the surface. Almost nothing is known about them, and their very existence is questionable as far as surface-dwellers are concerned. What knowledge of them does exist is firmly within the realm of rumors and superstition, as most view them as more of a warning, a story parents tell their children to keep them from venturing into dark caves and deep tunnels, rather than a people that actually exist. Dark Elves are, as a whole, considered a myth, and the tales told of them are frequently conflicting or hyperbolic.   The stories do agree on a few things. First, while these stories typically grant them a more nightmarish appearance, some even claiming that they're living shadows rather than corporeal, Dark Elves are described as having dark gray skin, with silvery white hair and blood red eyes. Second, they reside in the Underdark, a realm beneath the surface of the world where all manner of terrible and bloodthirsty creatures call home. Third, they are highly adept at deceptive and manipulative magics, which they use to lure unprepared victims into their realm, where they're either forced to work until their bodies collapse, or tortured until their dying breath as entertainment.   Expeditions have been made into the deep tunnels of the world, with the intent on bringing to light the truth of these reclusive Elves, but nearly invariably those brave, or perhaps foolish, enough to venture into the dark are never heard from again. Those that do manage to return are often insane, babbling incoherently about all manner of nightmarish creatures they saw in the dark.
