Volcano Siren

Volcano Sirens are one of the many species of sapient animals that live on the fire planet Pyrus. They are amphibious bipedal salamanders that are able to breathe fire, produce seductive pheromones to use on Western dragons and heat their slime coated scales to scalding hot temperatures. Volcano Sirens can also swim to catch fish and other sea creatures.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Volcano Sirens resemble bipedal salamanders with sharp teeth and bright red scales, they have a total of 5 limbs, two arms, two legs and a prehensile tail. They have three digits on the ends of their hands, feet and tail with all have orange webbing betwen each digit.

Biological Traits

Breathing fire, producing a fire-proof slime that can also heat up to scald attackers, producing pheromones to seduce Western Dragons of the opposite sex, turning hot pink when aroused, scales strong enough to completely protect against lava and webbing to help them swim better.

Genetics and Reproduction

Volcano Sirens mate like humans, by inserting the male's penis into the female's vagina untiil the male has an orgasm and releases his sperm into the female. Volcano Sirens turn hot pink during foreplay and release sexually stimulating pheromones. They mate within the late dry season of Pyrus and lay the eggs only two weeks after mating and have a gestation period two months before the eggs then hatch.

Growth Rate & Stages

Volcano Sirens are born with only three limbs, two arms and a single large tail. They are born with dark brown scales and they can both see and hear from birth. After two years of life their "baby tail" begins to split in two internally, creating two legs, after 6 months of their tail first starting to split, the hatchling is able to use it's newly devleoped legs to tear apart the old skin that made up the infant tail. At around 3 years of age, Volcano Sirens are taught to walk and talk by their parents. By age 7, their adult tail begins to grow, stating off as a simple numb just above the rear end. By 12/13 years of age, puberty starts and their tail is now fully grown and their old mud colored scales shed away to reveal a bright scarlet set of scales underneath. They tend to reach mental maturity at around 18 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

They live in Volcanic plains, more specifically, they live near lava lakes and lava rivers that also have a lake of water nearby. Volcano Sirens sometimes bathe in lava lakes in order to clean themselves from any ash or dust they might have on them from living on Pyrus.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Volcano Sirens eat fish and other sea creatures. They used to hunt by diving into lakes to grab any fish or sea creature they get their hands on. They often cook their catch by breathing fire over it until it is lightly roasted. Any catch they wanted to keep for later, they brought into their cave/den to keep it as cool as possible. Some even kept the leftover catches in small holes in the caves that were filled with water to make cooling easier and to keep the catches fresh for longer.

Biological Cycle

During the wet season, Volcano Sirens spent most of their time out hunting for fish and other sea creatures due to the rain bringing in an influx of both. Volcano Sirens also spend most of their time with their hatchlings during this time, as to the make the best out of the abondence of food. During the dry season, Volcano Sirens spent their time hiding away in nearby dens/caves as to get away from the excess heat. Some even entered a state of Aestivation (hibernation for hot weather) during the early dry season if the temperatures rose above 134 degrees. Even now that Volcano Sirens have grown sapient, they still feel apthetic, drowzy and generally tired during the early dry season. By the mid to late dry season, Volcano Sirens get some of their energy back, typically mating around January as to get the nymphs (baby Volcano Sirens) to hatch by the start of the wet season.

Behaviour

Volcano Sirens live in colonies of around 16-21 with a leader that is typically female. Volcano Sirens tend to use a pheromone to seduce Western Dragons, female Volcano Sirens seduce male dragons into serving her fish and fighting over one another, typically to the death. Male Volcano Sirens seduce female Western Dragons into acting as guards for him that are typically willing to lay down their lives for him. Sirens that are highly respected end up getting acess to higher quality food that allows them to produce pheromones that can seduce both male and female Western Dragons no matter the gender of the Volcano Siren. Once Volcano Sirens decide to have nymphs, they may leave the colony to live on their own aside from their partner to rise the nympths, occasually going out to socalize the nympths. Once the child grows up, they leave the more isolated cave of their parents to go join a colony as the cycle reapeats. Sometimes, a Siren will just leace a colony because they grow sick of the it and will live isolated, which often works surprisingly well. Some highly respected Volcano Sirens in a colony will never find a partner and have nympths because they enjoy the power they have over the colony too much.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Young adult Volcano Sirens live in Colonies of 16-21, high ranking Colony members are able to produce special pheromones that can seduce both female and male Western Dragons due to being given higher quality food then the rest of the Colony. The leader of the Colony (typically female but males are leaders sometimes too) typically had several Western Dragons, male and female, serving them.  Said leaders, unlike the other Colony members, never leave to have nymphs on their own and typically stayed until they were forced out of leadership by a new socialy dominent Volcano Siren. Most Volcano Sirens stay as young adults until they find a mate, once they do, they leave the Colony the next start of the wet season to live in a more isolated den/cave to rise nymphs. Even once the nymphs grow up and leave, the parents continue to live in the isolated cave/den for the rest of their lives.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Some Volcano Sirens may sell their pheromones for a decent chunk of money. Said pheromones are then watered down and typically sold as perfume.
