The Cannibals of Mount Shasul

The Cannibals of Mount Shasul is a tale about 5 Animal travelers, 1 carnivore, (a Phoenix) 2 omnivores, (a Silver Frost Fox and a Mud Warthog) and 2 herbivores (A Thunder Bison and a Sekazian Jumping goat) who went to Mount Shasul of Ramil'ard in order to reach it's peak. Only 1 Animal survived due to the harsh and bitter winters they faced along causing a severe lack of food, forcing them to resort to cannibalism in order to live. That one was left with severe PTSD due to being haunted by the memories of having to eat his friends, some say the ghosts of those eaten still haunt Mount Shasul to this vary day.

Summary

A group of five explorers go up to Mount Shasul in the depths of winter, only to end up cannibalizing one another until only one was left due to the severe cold causing a lack of food, the remianing one was eventually saved.

Historical Basis

It is based off a real event where a group of 5 did in fact try to climb Mount Shasul, although, it was senstionalized by the first person to cause the tale to grow so well known. The myth has them eat each other alive, getting beaten to death in starvation induced rage/hysteria, in the real event, they all killed one another before digging in. There was also much less snow in the real event then there was in the myth, which was likely added as a way to "perserve" the dead whole body of one of the 5, even though, in the real event, the bodies were butchered and placed into small bags and packs the others had brought.

Spread

It is spread around as a typical "scary story" to spook one's friends. It can be told anywhere, but it is almost always brought up if anyone goes to or even near Mount Shasul, or even Ramil'ard in general, no matter if they knew about the event previously or not.

Variations & Mutation

The Tale itself became what it is now when the internet post that made it near viral took from some exagerated headlines and turned the tale into what it is today, although some may exagerate even that.

Cultural Reception

The Cannibals of Mount Sashul is often taken as just a spooky internet story, although still fun to tell to shock one's friends. Many question the Pheonix's morality in the situation, knowing that he made the group so that he was the only carnivore.

In Literature

The Cannibals of Mount Shasul has a few spawned adapations of it's work, including a horror movie that became incredibly popular within Evermare, though, it has been hit with an ever growing contraversy due to the fact it stared not only actual victims, but one that lives to this say, the behind the tale Phoenix had even writen an entire book on debunking the rumors around the real incident.
