Mountain Dwarf

Mountain Dwarves are a branch of dwarves who makes their homes in and under the mountain ranges of Meneros. They prefer to live underground, rather than above like their Hill Dwarf cousins. They feel secure within their homes built of rock and some will feel vulnerable and exposed upon entering the outside world. They also consider themselves self-sufficient, other calling this dwarven stubbornness, and will reject the presence of others.   Mountain dwarves live in fabulous underground cities beneath immense mountain ranges. They have little interest in the affairs of other races, with the rare exception of the grey elves, with whom mountain dwarves are age-old allies. In fact, most mountain dwarves have never seen a non-dwarf. They are not interested in helping others unless they can be shown that the matter affects them directly.   Mountain dwarf leaders are called thanes and each thane represents his clan in his communities council.

Mountain Dwarves are dark of hair and eye, with black hair and brown eyes being common. Like all dwarves, Mountain Dwarves of all genders take great pride in their beards, styling and decorating them as fashions dictate, but always growing them long and full. While there is no stigma placed on a clean-shaven dwarf, it is such a rarity that a bare-faced dwarf will be a marvel.
