Free City of Ravenstone
Located on the eastern shore of the Shallow Sea, Ravenstone was once a barony and major city of the Kingdom of Erast before the War of Succession. After that conflict ended and the Domain of Ironhaven was established, Ravenstone maintained it's autonomy and established itself as a free city-state with a domain of its own. Ruling lands surrounding the eastern side of the Shallow Sea, Ravenstone has become an ally of Ironhaven and many other former cities and towns of fallen Erast.
Government
Ravenstone is a democratic government with a constitutional council. Representatives are elected from the former counties in the Domain with a representative of the chartered guilds having one vote for all guilds within the domain.
The government recognizes and abides by the Guild Compact, with all guilds operating in the domain being required to be a lawfully chartered guild of Erast.
Defences
The Domain has a professional navy with most ships sailing out of Azamere, a city south and west of the capital.
A small standing army also protects the city with smaller militias protecting their villages and towns.
The Order of the Raven, a religious militant order, has Knight-Errants that protect the countryside.
Industry & Trade
Fishing the Shallow Sea is the dominant industry in Ravenstone. The Guild of Fisherfolk and Sailors controls trade in seafood and pearls taken from the Shallow Sea.
Guilds and Factions
The Guild of Fisherfolk and Sailors is the major guild in the Domain and city proper. The Guild Representative to the council is usually chosen from their Masters and Journeymen.
History
Founded as the seat of the Barony of Ravenstone, the city of Ravenstone was given to Asher Erast and he was named Baron by his king father, Turest I Erast.
Natural Resources
Pearls taken from the Shallow Sea are among the most traded item in Erast.
