Republic of Alfumerra
The Republic of Alfumerra is a small nation which recently got independence from the Republic of Terales, so are not yet a member of the Cloriadmen Confederation. As a Cloriadmen nation, Aflumerra has attempted to gain entrance into the Confederation, but Terales has so far blocked this, perhaps hoping that Alumerra will have to rejoin if they suffer economically.
History
The region which would eventually become Alfumerra has no one root nation to look back upon. Rather, the region was a mix of various Cloriadmen tribes which were eventually integrated into Terales over time. The genesis of Alfumerran seperatism came during the Cloriadmen Crusade, when the majority of Terales, except the south and some islands, was occupied by demonic forces. The Cloriadmen Crusade dealt with these demons, but comitted their own atrocities on the population, especially those who practiced the religion of Tweledism. As Afumerra didn't have to deal with this, a high proportion of Tweledists remained. Combined with the rest of Terales viewing their light escape from the demons as suspicious, the Aflumerrans began to be treated poorly. In the 1860s, the region was invaded by Tritons, and the resulting fighting caused devastation in the region. Instead of aiding the people of the lands, the mercantile elite of Terales bought up the land and exploited the people widening the rift. The elites then laid off much of the worskforce of the region during the Time of Troubles, further harming the people and leaving many destitute.
This greatly angered the Alfumerran populace, who began resenting the state and desired independence. Although Tweledism had declined due to oppression, it returned in full force as the populace turned against the state and its church. Things came to a head when a peasant gathering was accused of blasphemous behavior and arrested by clergymen. The village, infuriated by this move, hung the priests. This prompted a military intervention from Terales, which attacked the village. Although the assault was successful, the rest of the region was thrown into disarray as villages learned of and became infuriated by the massacre. This led to a fullscale revolt, which eventually won their independence in 1995.
