Demon Lords

Demon Lords, much like wildcard demons, are unpredictable in power level. Technically, the term Demon Lord may be used to relate to any demon which is more powerful than it should be (that is, its category) or which wields outsized influence for its power level. Category 1 and 2 Demons usually aren't be classified as Demon Lord because they lack the ability to gain the respect or following they would need, and most Demon Lords are Category 5 or Wildcards. Demon Lords also can't be simpleminded demons who are incapable of giving orders because they are not sentient enough to comprehend their power. Since such demons are usually low level anyways, this isn't typically important. The Demon Lord title is not an indication of a demon that is independent from Devils, but many are.
Some examples of independent Demon Lords are Moloch, Mormo, and Tunrida, who fight with other powers over the ruins of the Kingdom of Ilmoric.
