SuperNova /R\

Structure

The Nova religion has a very loose if not nonexistent organizational structure as the group is without leaders, special roles, or positions. Seniority does gain some power and influence over the group but is not the end-all-be-all for them.

Culture

As explained by Hela to Alex, "In layman's terms, Novalians are to novas and supernovas as storm chasers are to tornadoes and hurricanes, with a bit more theism to it."    Within the group, there are many different reasons why members have joined and their ideologies regarding novas are as various as the species that make up their group. Some have joined for the adrenaline of watching a dying star and the destruction that follows. Others join out of some sense of duty and to pay tribute to the star. A smaller section has joined to scavenge the nearby planets that will be destroyed by the star going nova, whether or not the planet's residents have knowledge of it.

Public Agenda

Novalians hold no public agenda and do not interact with the public unless necessary. They are a private but welcoming group that simply wishes to worship and bear witness to stellar explosions. They do not cause stars to go nova, nor do they stop stars from going nova.

Assets

Novalians are composed of several different alien species with vast amounts of space-traveling technology. As a mixed group, they are able to work together and create new technology to better aid in the witnessing of novas.

Divine Origins

The origins of the group are unknown, though it is presumed that the Nova got their start from some unknown individual or party interested in watching stars explode. From there different beings joined the group, all with their own reason for being there.

Tenets of Faith

In order to have a more cohesive group, Navalians have set a basic set of rules in place for the safety of its members.
  1. Never purposefully or with intent cause stellar beings to explode or "go nova".
  2. Never purposefully or with intent stop stellar beings to explode or "go nova".
  3. Whenever possible witness the events taking place around a stellar being going nova.
  4. Political conflicts of individuals must be abandoned once a part of the group.

Ethics

1 -2: The Novas are to never cause or stop a star from exploding. This is strictly and violently enforced, Members who break either of these rules are typically sentenced to death by a majority vote.   3: This is the core tenet of the entire group. They are simply the watchers. Subfactions within the group may choose to record or analyze the happenings of a nova, but following a subfaction's rule is not enforceable by the entire group. Missing a star going nova is highly frowned upon, but not punishable by the group.   4: Political conflicts between galaxies, worlds, countries, or species, are not allowed within the group. Members of the group must accept everyone and anyone without discrimination. While killing is not against the rules, it is looked down upon and can earn a member exclusion from the group if enough members vote to make it so.
