I want to create a world that feels lived in, almost everything has some form of purpose, some kind of reason for being in this world.
I want to make it feel realistic enough that things don't seem to have happened for no reason.
I don't want to have one note races or a one note bad guy or bad race, I want each and every race to have some complexity about themselves.
This world has been inside my brain for over 3 years and I finally took all my jumbled up notes and ideas and I am going to use this site to hopefully keep them in an organized system.
I am hoping once I flesh out the world and then move onto the races, the kingdoms, monsters, conflicts, then I will be able to better work on the story I want to tell about the death of one of the main gods. That story may either be some kind of novel, a comic, a manga, or what ever I feel like when I reach that point.
This is not a world that is inherently special, most of the races are races that have been in thousands of fantasy worlds by this point.
What do think may set my world apart mostly is the idea of a hierarchy of the divine that is based off the owner ship of land, of concepts, of creatures, of locations, such as the main gods and goddesses, being the main ones because they created whole races and own whole continents. The gods and goddesses may seem similar to others from mythology or other stories, but that is fine with me as long as I flesh them out enough that they feel needed and really feel like they are what power this world.
It is a high fantasy story, with little in the way of technology, mostly akin to medieval to renaissance technology. Magic is mostly based off what race you are and your overall proficiency in it.
I want the world to feel mysterious in that there is this ever looming question of why are all the worlds divided, why do all these races seem to really only be on their own continent, why cant any of the main divinity cross over into each others continents, when many of the other lesser divinity can.
I also want it to feel very fantastical and mystical with larger than life cities, crazy biomes, with their own monsters, animals, and plants. I want the races to feel like they have formed deep cultures.
I would say the tone will be pretty dark, a lot of the elements are based off fantasy manga, light novels, and anime like Mushoku Tensei, and also fantasy books from authors like Neil Gaiman or Tolkien.
There are things like slaves, horrifc wars, monsters, plundering, and all those horrifying things, but it is also a world full of magics, unique cultures, adventuring, and all those classic fantasy tropes.
