Quick Story Index

All the stories listed here can be found embedded within the Discontinuum world building articles and it's fine to explore that at your own pace and read anything extended as it catches your fancy. That's how I originally envisaged visitors might like to wander round my site and if that's your preference too, you may have no need of this page.   However, if you're interested in something specific or just want a list of the main fictional content in one place, then this is where to find it. Here I will link both completed, partial and fragmented material which lives within the multiverse of the Discontinuum, with a word count and a brief summary so you can quickly dive into reading anything that catches your imagination. The stories are ordered by completion date or by aproximate start date if they are incomplete.   This isn't absolutely every piece of fiction in the Discontinuum, but it picks up on the most developed streams. There are some even tinier fragments than the stories marked here as "fragments", and one or two even extend over more than one image but you really can find these by exploring, so I'll leave them undocumented as an incentive to go looking.
Story Realm Completed? Words Notes
Another Green World The Green World 27th Aug 1986 12,668 Sinking slowly deeper into the Discontinuum, the archetype that is the Green World gathers souls from other realities. A fantasy inspired by the Brian Eno album with the same name.
Here Come the Warm Jets The Consumed World 6th April 1988 2,259 A little experimentally formatted piece inspired by the title track of another Brian Eno album.
The Galactic Tourists The Galactic Confederacy 8th Jul 1997 74,437 The luxurious starship Kalindy XII caters for an exclusive set of exceptionally rich tourists on the ultimate cruise to see the sights of the Galaxy. Then the deaths begin.
The Secret of the Universe Heaven 18 26th Jul 1998 6,754 The deepest archetype explored so far in these stories of the Discontinuum. Dwellers within remote locations like this can be full of tricks and should not always be trusted to reflect the truth.
The Autumn Country The Autumn Country 13th Feb 2000 67,375 The Autumn Country is an archetype, not an evolution. That already makes it a dangerous place for travellers. But something else is wrong with the Autumn Country as Cerylia will find out when she dares to cross the border.
A Gift from the Sea The World Of The Long Sleep In Progress 17,943 A very oblique sequel to the Autumn Country not featuring any of the same characters or the same place but apart from that it will be a kind of sequel! This one was started so long ago I can't even remember and I am obviously struggling, with only two completed chapters but it isn't yet abandoned, so maybe one day there'll be a finished story.
Untitled The Lost Retreat Fragments ~2500? The adventures of Yvessu have grown up around fragments of text which accompanied some of my earliest digital art work going all the way back to 2002. A couple of more recent pieces have been included to add further shards to a very incomplete tale set in the realm of the Lost Retreat. There isn't even a provisional story title to link the bits and pieces here. It's all very hazy and may stay that way forever but it has inspired a lot of recent world building to give the old words a much deeper context. I think I'd enjoy building even more at some point, so a fully fledged tale might arise out of this work in future.
Four Quests at the Edge of Time Magicians' End Fragments ~2000? Some old text accompanying old art work dating back to 2008 which I have now chosen to set into the context of the Discontinuum, envisaging four loosely linked stories from the same realm. There are also one or two newer images with new text that has grown from these very embryonic beginnings, expanding them a little. These all might be seeds for future stories but they are a very long way from anything final, although they have already inspired a lot of world building within Magicians' End.
Legends of Klane Kalonia : 01 Station Of Seers The World Of The Long Sleep 15th Dec 2009 18,838 The first story in the cycle known as the legends of Klane Kalonia. Fifty four pages of mainly Vue rendered images illustrate this tale.
Legends of Klane Kalonia : 02 The Creature in the Crater The World Of The Long Sleep 30th Jul 2010 8,457 The second story in the cycle known as the legends of Klane Kalonia. Twenty six pages of Vue and Poser rendered images continue Klane's adventures.
Legends of Klane Kalonia : 03 The Great Burning The World Of The Long Sleep 6th Nov 2021 14,262 The third episode in the cycle known as the legends of Klane Kalonia. Fifty one pages of Vue and Poser rendered images accompany this pivotal tale, which took me a very long time to bring to a conclusion.
Legends of Klane Kalonia : 08 The Awakening of History The World Of The Long Sleep 11th Nov 2021 2,652 The last legend of Klane Kalonia. A little coda with words completed long before I finally got to illustrate them with seven stylised pieces of art made in Poser and DAZ Studio. Legends four to seven are only in my head and may possibly never be written down but you can jump to this one.
The Words From The Dark The Lost Retreat 31st Mar 2023 8,583 The holy text of the Church of Hidden Radiance in the Cavern City of Carafon, which tells the tragic story of the four love sick gods and goddesses imprisoned underground, and the duty of the miners to aid in their redemption and liberation.
Hella and the Widow Magicians' End 27th Sep 2023 17,938 A priestess juggles her duties and stumbles in many ways, but resilient in her path, she finds the favor of a goddess and a prince. Plus, there are cats.
In addition to the fiction listed here, I also have the world of the Bubble with even more stories, generally with a more science fiction flavour, rather than the fantasy themed works hosted in the Discontinuum. The Gateway to the Bubble takes you to a jumping off point and from there you will find the stories belonging to that realm listed in its codex, within their own category.
