The Van Helsing Codex is a centuries old book detailing the various supernatural creatures that exist in the world. It has a variety of different entries from Vampires to Werewolves, to Djinn and Manticores. It was originally the journal of the patriarch of the famous Van Helsing family, Alistair Van Helsing. When he died, it passed to his son, Thomas. It eventually found its way to Abraham Van Helsing, the man who went up against "Dracula" in Bram Stoker's "fictional" story. Soon afterwards, the Codex found its way to America, into the hands of the Dhampir, Benedict Smith. He studied the Codex night and day, in order to learn about the supernatural world. He learned that there are several different Planes of Existence, and that this one is called the Physical Plane (also known as the Mortal Plane; both used interchangeably). He also learned that many mythical places, such as Avalon, Tir Na Nogh, Djinnestan, etc. are all real, and that they themselves are different Planes of Existence.
