History

Shortly after the recreation of Etaen and its division to The Denary Realms it soon became apparent that the edge of Aell was a death trap for the always curious mortals. Ashionis, after witnessing many mortals fall to their deaths decided to act decisively.   And so the Titans were created. Beings of immense height and stature, made of different materials and stationed in the eight corners of Aell. Their role was to keep mortals, be it by ship or other means, to fall over the edge and to their deaths. They were made immortal, seen from afar by anyone who dared to come close to the edge of the world. Their sight was a warning but for those who dared to ignore it, they would pick them up and turn them around or place them in a safe location.   For more than 700 years they stood as guardians and protectors of the mortals, until the Irruption Wars. They joined the fight soon after it became apparent that their help was needed. They helped significantly, until the Goddess Zyrallie betrayed the mortals, siding with the invaders. She used magic to poison the Titans causing their muscles to freeze and fall where they stood. Over the course of time, with a few exceptions, evidence of their existence has been erased.

Common Myths and Legends

Where the Titans fell, the land was altered heavily. For those that fell in the sea, their bodies remain there, undiscovered by most.
  • Brimios, the Titan of Metal fell on Farhas. Over years his body was absorbed into the earth and mountains were created which are now being harvested for precious resources.
  • Iatas, the Titan of Gems fell in Behemoth Ocean, his body lost.
  • Ainthia, the Titan of Wood fell on The Mountains of Craz, causing them to collapse creating a valley. Her blade remains on the center of a lake.
  • Tetia, the Titan of Stone fell in the sea north of Groge Whyte, her body creating The Choke of Tetia.
  • Lyphia, the Titan of Sand fell on what was the Kingdom of Magoza, her blood staining the land. Some parts of her body can be still seen if one gets close to that part of the world.
  • Aethaeus, the Titan of Aether was the only one made out of pure energy. His body exploded releasing huge amounts of magic into Aell. That inspired a new era of magic for Aell with many different consequences.
  • Thys, the Titan of Fur fell into Makaria Lake. Legend says her hand can be seen grasping the edge of the world, if one ventures over the Fourth Sign.
  • Vrepses, the Titan of Bone fell into Makaria lake. Legend says her hand can be seen grasping the edge of the world, if one ventures over the Fourth Sign.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Titans were highly protective of any other residents of Aell. They took their purpose to stop people from getting over the edge of the world very seriously and were devoted to it.
