Bardic Colleges
College of Valor
This college finds its home in Rugen, the dwarven city. It’s teachings include ways to inspire bravery in the toughest moments. To elevate the common man into a hero is their ultimate goal of the Valor College. It has produced very strong leaders , war heroes, and guardsmen. As well as some common folks who have attended have become hometown heroes themselves.
College of Swords
This institution of a more violent form of bardery, bardism, bardaciousness Is found on battle island! Common talented bards of this college go by the title Blade, i.e: Johan the Blade, or that greasy blade in the tavern over there. While more commonly known as daring masters of dexterity who hone the craft solely for performance and as they put it “Sword Play”. Bard of this college are just as capable to astound with juggling daggers as they are to gut a master swordsman.
College of Lore
Located in the outer rings of Menegroth this college produces historians, scribes and storytellers mostly. The greatest writers of Archea have come from this college. They have less of an emphasis on the musical aspect compared to other colleges and these bards' inspirational abilities are more supportive of what the subject is doing skillwise.
College of Glamour
Currently destroyed, it was located in the heart of Arborio. All of the greatest musicians and fashionistas found their way here. Crowds from all over the world gather here for the magnificent shows graduations produce ‘
College of Whispers
Hidden away from the public eye this college can only be found if you look down the alleys in central Neverwinter. Spies, liars, thieves and master manipulators are formed from the teachings here. More of a prestige school; It is required for a bard to have graduated from lore or valor colleges and sometimes swords.
College of Divination (Spirits)
Often more derogatorily called the college of Gypsys the College of Divination is located in al hasaliyah. The noted southern port town while the stomping ground for many a ne'er-do-well or gangster, or shady merchant, or grifter, or sheistman. It is noted for its Seers and prophets and those who can truly see into the future. Bards of this college are sensitive to the world around them and while some of their skills are more performatory and illusionary. Some talented bards of this college can read people, monsters, and the world like reading a book.
College of Commerce & Politics(Eloquence)
Inarguably the most boring college of bardic studies. This college is often a prerequisite for political office, or a certification as a lawyer. Filled with accountants, politicians, lawyers and bureaucrats. This college was founded on a principle that any bard didn’t need be a starving artist but an entrepreneur. College of Masters!
A mythical school no one truly knows much about, and those who do never speak of it easily. Legends has it that to attain entrance one would have to graduate from each of the 7 Bardic College, and then must find a College Maester(Leader of a college) to guide them to it’s entrance by defeating them in a competition of their choosing. More of an old wives tale, the term “Bardic Lord” is thrown around as a term for someone who masters all 8 colleges. But is more commonly used as a term to endear a very talented bard who graduated multiple colleges.
