Arkdale
Arkdale has stood as the Capital of the Amber Empire for more than 300 years, yet the political strife has eroded much of the power of the region. Now internal fighting has distracted leadership and allowed the surrounding regions to grow into formidable foes.
Arkdale is the primary hub of trade in the region with one of the busiest ports, encouraging fair trade of goods and services. With all of the money exchanging hands for trade comes the under current of thievery, pickpockets, and street peddlers.
In addition to normal trade, Arkdale also houses small pockets of arcane guilds and shops where one can acquire potions, materials, and rare magical items. Arkdale also has a strong blacksmith's guild with many masters and apprentices selling well crafted armor and weapons.
Geography
Located at the large mouth of the Crystal Moon River as it exits into the Gulf of Casmar, Arkdale is surrounded by fertile lands and farmland in a grassland area.
Ecosystem
Rich and diverse mixture of flora and fauna, comprised of creatures native to the grasslands. In general farmlands and ranches are safe during the daytime hours, but predators hunt mainly after sunset, requiring livestock to be protected in enclosed barns or stables. The further one travels from civilization the more bold and aggressive the wildlife can be.
Natural Resources
Foresting has provided much of the building material, as well as skilled artisans with clay and bricks. Arkdale also boasts of very rich farmlands and abundant seafood and wildlife, both livestock and hunted, to provide nourishment. Arkdale also maintains substantial food and water storage of grains and other nourishments in the event of a siege, yet hasn't had to resort to such means recently.
Arkdale also benefits greatly from trade on its pier - gathering diverse worldly resources not available to other areas.
History
When the soldiers of Arkdale toppled the Strathen Dynasty nearly 300 years ago, Arkdale emerged as the crowning gem of the new Amber Empire, flourishing in being the central cog in land and sea trade within the region. Over the generations since, the leadership has proven to be resolute, fending off attacks from neighboring threats.
