The Flame Sword of Lloth

The Flame Sword of Lloth is a unique weapon crafted by the Demon Queen during the War of the Seldarine. Hidden somewhere in Undermountain by Halaster Blackcloak and later defended by Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, the sword's current location is unknown. According to the notes found on the recently discovered dead drow patrol, House Auvryndar is actively seeking the weapon.   While neither the members of Bregan D’aerthe nor the the worshippers of Vhaeraun would make use of this weapon, keeping it out of the hands of Lloth's fervent priestesses is a priority.

Weapon (longsword), artifact

(requires attunement by a worshipper of Lloth)   The Flaming Sword of Lloth is a legendary weapon of dark power associated with the Spider Queen herself. Crafted from blackened obsidian, the blade is adorned with intricate spider motifs and radiates an aura of sinister flames. It is said to have been forged in the depths of The Abyss, blessed by the malevolent essence of Lloth.

Dark Flame

The Flaming Sword of Lloth deals an additional 2d6 fire damage on a successful hit. The wielder can chose for the flames to appear either as traditional red fire or as otherworldly black fire. Undead and creatures vulnerable to fire damage take an additional 2d6 fire damage.

Weaver's Web

Once per long rest, you can use an action to summon a web of dark energy. A 30-foot cone of webs shoots forth from the blade, creating a difficult terrain area. Any creature caught in the web must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or become restrained. The web lasts for 1 minute or until destroyed. The Flaming Sword of Lloth gains a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls against creatures restrained by the web.

Lloth's Mark

As a bonus action, you can brandish the Flaming Sword of Lloth and utter a prayer to the Spider Queen. A spectral mark of Lloth's favor appears on your forehead, granting you advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks. The mark lasts for 1 hour.

Avatar of the Spider Queen

Once per long rest, you can channel the essence of Lloth through the Flaming Sword. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
  • You have resistance to fire and necrotic damage.
  • You have advantage on attack rolls against any creature that is not a worshipper of Lloth.
  • Whenever you hit a creature with the Flaming Sword, they must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. The poisoned creature takes an additional 2d6 poison damage at the start of each of its turns.
Note: The Flaming Sword of Lloth is a legendary artifact of immense power. It is steeped in the dark magic of Lloth and can only be wielded by those who are devout followers of the Spider Queen. It is rumored to hold secrets and abilities beyond what is currently known, awaiting discovery by a true champion of Lloth.
