Gary the Winch-man
The Winch-man is a mythological figure in Sky Folk folklore. They are said to guide sleeping people between the conscious world and the world in their dreams, before pulling them back out in time for them to awaken.
I'm some variations of the character, it is believed that, if you realise that you are waking up from a dream, you will be able to call the Winch-man to pull you back in for a little while longer. Unfortunately, this often doesn't work, usually resulting in the person waking up sweating and with a headache due to it being a surprisingly stressful experience. People who've successfully called the winch-man report an uncomfortable and disorienting initial experience
At some point in history, the Winch-man gained the name "Gary the Winch-man", the actual origin of this has been lost but it is widespread across Skyfolk and Seafolk cultures
