Lathander

Elder in years, youthful in bearing, Lathander is best known for his portfolios of new beginnings and creativity. The Morninglord often spends time among the mortal races, and has fewer compunctions than most about intervening in their troubles.

Divine Domains

The god of the dawn, Lathander holds power over the morning, as well as renewal, birth and rebirth, Spring, creativity, and all manner of new beginnings. More broadly, He is considered a god of light and life, associated with hope and potential.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Lathander's holy symbol is a winding road leading into a sunrise. His favoured animals are puppies, kittens, baby rabbits, and young of various other species. His holy weapon is a morningstar.

Holidays

As a sun god, the summer and winter solstices are sacred to the Lathandrian church. So is, to a more minor extent, every sunrise.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Lathander appeared as a Human man. Like many deities, he has the power to change his size, though he generally remains of comparable height to other humans when appearing among the mortal races. His clothing is a dazzling shine of oranges, pinks, and yellows.   In this form, Lathander still glows with the radiance of a sunrise, his hair burns with golden fire, and the ground is said to be scorched where he steps. Lathander often floated, perhaps to spare this damage, and liked to materialize in a glorious spectacle of sunbeams. His radiant face darkens akin to solar eclipse when he is angered or upset.

Personality Characteristics

Virtues & Personality perks

Lathander is an eternal optimist, always focused on a hopeful future rather than the troubles of the present. Doggedly determined, Lathander encouraged proactive altruism and forward momentum. Lastly, Lathander's bearing is exuberant and friendly, always open to new possibilities.

Vices & Personality flaws

Though an old god, Lathander has been criticized for faults common to the young, such as his impulsivity, headstrong recklessness, and occasional shortsightedness. His focus on action leads him to desire quick results, sometimes overlooking the long term consequences. Similarly, his embrace of life's vitality and vibrance has been called hedonistic, and though he is as generous toward others as he is toward himself, the god has been fairly called excessive.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Lathander is the lover of Chauntea, and the two kindred spirits have been connected for centuries.   Lathander is distinct from many gods in his willingness to involve himself in mortal affairs. He has been known to fight alongside his paladins and personally recognize his clerics' good deeds. Many tales are told of the empathetic and passionate Morninglord taking personal interest in a mortal trouble and involving himself or his church to resolve it.
