Warpweed

A crawling dark-green vine that grows around the Crimson Coast in specific areas within the Kapusdurn mountains. Warpweed is highly valuable due to the dark magic that is imbued within the plant - the leaves are highly sought after by mages and alchemists as both a spell ingredient and a potent alchemical reagent. The warpweed is rumored to be dangerous, however - those who frequently use, handle, or consume it often begin to show a dark magical corruption known as the Black Blight. No cure is currently known, but the potent nature of the Warpweed continues to lure in those who can make use of its magical properties.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Warpweed has several magical properties owing to its creation sometime during the Calamity:

• As an alcoholic tincture, Warpweed can be ingested and induce a soporific state in the user, presenting them with cloudy images of the future, or of knowledge unknown to the user.

• Warpweed can be used as a material component in spells to imbue the spell with powerful arcane effects, causing the area of effect of a spell to undergo corruption and become temporary difficult terrain (but simultaneously sapping a fraction of the life force of the caster)

• A potion of Warpweed can be crafted to maximize spells cast by the user for a period of minutes equal to the Warpweed leaves used in the creation of the potion.

A creeping, dark green vine with broad and ragged leaves - found only on the slopes of the Kapusdurn mountains above the Crimson Coast at the base of evergreen trees.
