Personal history
Born the only child of an older couple, Thomas was raised in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. Unlike his peers, Thomas' parent discouraged any exploration into the city proper, even though the suburbs were becoming less lively communities as the U.S.A. was giving tax breaks to individuals who moved to areas with less overall land and energy impact. Once Thomas finally went in for an International Schooling Standard sponsored educational trip at the age of 13, he was amazed at how many people could live together in harmony. He rushed through the rest of his ISS certification in order to work in the city.
At 19 he moved into the city of Phoenix proper and began helping with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, initially with the Property Redistribution Act of 2074. Much of this involved recognizing either abandoned or underdeveloped property and using it to help house citizens who were currently homeless. It also included inspecting redistributed lands on a regular basis and seeing if public ownership of the property was still necessary to ensure property distribution. For the first 20 years of his career, Thomas climbed the ranks and enjoyed being among the hustle and bustle of a city. But as he climbed the bureaucratic ladder in HUD, he realized how much fighting against nature there was in order to maintain a city with millions of people. At age 38, having devoted his life to his job, he finally received a regional position that involved him working remotely. He felt it was time for a change of pace. Having lost both his parents and promising his friends he would visit regularly, Thomas decided to move to Elko, Nevada.
For the first time in his life, Thomas felt he had time to think about himself and his wants. He spent time hiking and taking tours in the desert, even camping for a week at a time in the area. The landscape helped him understand humanity's affect on ecosystems, and he felt guilty having exerted his will on local flora and fauna. He tried to lower his waste and energy usage in a culture that already tried to minimize civilization's impact. In that state of mind is when he met Dahlia Munoz, the young alluring leader of Nature's Samsara.
Hearing about a faith that would help bring understanding to his new complex perspective, Thomas began spending all his free time with this group of young spiritualists. As one of the most reliable sources of income, he was treated well and pampered, some would say Dahlia being his reward. The two had chemistry outside of just lust, and Thomas became one of Nature's Samara's most ardent practitioners.
Soon after moving into the communal home with Dahlia, Thomas received a shock inheritance of a whole plot of land in Elko Mountain. An estranged uncle from his mother's side had finally passed away and Thomas was the last established heir in the U.S. records. Thomas took it as a sign. He planned with a Dahlia to make the land a commune so the followers could more honestly live within the tenets of their faith. Within five years the members of the faith had doubled and the commune was on a path to self-sustainability. Thomas went into retirement early and began being a more paternal influence as Dahlia began having children. Although the two always had an understanding of an open relationship, Thomas was changed when Dahlia gave birth to Celeste, whom he felt was his child for certain. After a point, as the commune grew and the children kept coming, Thomas realized he didn't care. He just loved being a father and leaving a spiritual legacy with the children. These days he helps teaches the children their reading and simple arithmetic, as well as how to continue to take care of the commune. Despite the competition of young handsome men, the majority of nights Thomas finds himself asleep next to Dahlia on her futon, the most content he has ever been.
