Pale Kaetru

Pale Kaetru are completely unrelated to Kaetru, but look similar and have similar life cycles.   Pale Kaetru start out their lives as white tadpole-like creatures who swim in small bays and fjords along the coast. At around 8 years old, the Kaetru will start growing arms and legs, a metamorphis that will end when they turn 14.   In their adult form, they are humanoid in appearance, but with slimy white skin, large blue eyes, gills, webbed hands and feet, and tails. Their thumbs are especially long to help overcome the issues that gripping with webbed hands bring. It is during adulthood when the Pale Kaetru’s life cycle diverges from the Kaeutru. To mate, four Pale Kaetru, two males and two females, will form rat-king like structures by tying their tails together. Over the course of about a day, they will meld together, turning into one singular being: a large creature with an appearance similar to a giant squid, but with four eyes and white skin. This creature will then journey underwater to lay eggs.   Pale Kaetru are sapient, but rarely interact with other sapient beings. They appear to not have a name for themselves, which is why the name Pale Kaetru was given to them.
