Princess of Burbry

Princess Lena of Sassent (a.k.a. Lena Azami)

Lena is a Burbric princess and heir to the Kingdom of Burbry.   Lena is a young woman who grew up in Castle Sassent, where she developed an interest in sword fighting and riding. Her mother arranged secret lessons for her with Thomase Boutironne, a young teacher who became her friend and confidant. When the War of the Vale broke out in 1243, Thomase was sent to the frontlines and Lena continued to practice her skills in his absence. However, when Thomase returned in 1253, the two developed a romantic relationship which was discovered by Lena's father. He had Thomase imprisoned and publicly executed, and Lena locked in her room. With the help of her mother, Lena managed to escape the castle and fled to the kingdom of Rasfadal.   In Rasfadal, Lena met the Heroes of Rasfadal, a group of adventurers who saved her from a Forest Troll ambush. She shared an intimate moment with Igor, one of the knights in the group, but left in the night to not put her saviors in danger. Lena was later captured by a group of cultists and taken to the Swamps where she met Trishula, a dragonborn, and Albion, a member of the Heroes' Guild. The Heroes of Rasfadal rescued her a second time and Lena decided to stay with them. Together they rebuilt the village of Veryne and as the Heroes prepare to deal with the bandit-kings of the Swamps, Lena runs the village Veryne, with the help of Joshua, who has developed a romantic interest in her.   Overall, Lena is a strong-willed young woman who is not afraid to stand up to her father or to take risks to help others. Personal history

Birth and early youth

Lena was born as the daughter of Prince Auder and lady Leana of Sossard. Auder lived a careless and hedonistic life which resulted in an extramarital pregnancy. Auder tried to cover it up, but his father and king at the time forced to lovers into a marriage to legitimize the child, and forging a beneficial alliance between the two houses in the process. However, the couple felt little affection towards each other, outside of their physical relation and spent very little time together.   Lena's birth started in the late in the morning of the 27th of March, 1230AP. Auder called two ladies-in-waiting, ordered them to take care of Leana, and informed them that he'd retreat to his study, not to be disturbed until the child was born. In the night of the 28th Lena was born after a long and difficult birth. Auder was called from his study and came to see his child. He quickly looked Lena over and turned his eyes to Leana, after which he said, "I was hoping for a boy," and left. Leana cared little for her husbands words, and held her newborn daughter.   Lena's childhood was not an easy one. Her parents' marriage was strained from the start, and they spent very little time together. As a result, Lena was often left to her own devices, causing trouble and mischief wherever she went. Despite this, she was a bright and curious child, eager to explore the world around her.   As she grew older, Lena's behavior only became more rebellious. She had little interest in the lessons taught by her tutors and would often skip them to explore the castle and its grounds. Her father was not pleased with her antics and often scolded her harshly, but her mother remained her staunchest defender. Leana encouraged Lena to follow her own path and to embrace her wild nature.   She became increasingly aware of her parents' unhappy marriage and watched as they grew further apart, each pursuing their own interests and pleasures. Lena found herself longing for a deeper connection with her parents, but they were too wrapped up in their own worlds to notice her struggles.   Despite her difficult upbringing, Lena remained a bright and spirited young girl. She was fiercely independent and unafraid to challenge convention, often finding herself at odds with the expectations placed upon her as a princess. But as she approached adulthood, Lena began to realize the importance of family and the value of connection. She yearned for a sense of belonging and longed to find her place in the world.

Teenage years

As Lena grew older, she became more headstrong and independent. She yearned for adventure and excitement beyond the walls of Castle Sassent, and often found herself sneaking out at night to explore the nearby villages and forests. She made friends with the local peasants, learning about their struggles and hopes for a better future. Lena was deeply affected by their stories and became determined to do something to help them.   Her love for sword fighting and horse riding only grew stronger, and she continued to train with great dedication, despite her father's disapproval. When her mother arranged for secret lessons in sword fighting with the castle's master-at-arms, Lena excelled quickly, and she began to participate in mock battles with the castle's guards. Her skills impressed the guards, and they began to respect her for her bravery and tenacity.   The War of the Vale only heightened Lena's thirst for adventure. Although she was too young to participate in the conflict, she followed the war's developments closely, eager to learn about the strategies and tactics employed by the opposing sides. When her sword fighting teacher, Thomase Boutironne, was sent to the frontlines, Lena was devastated. She wrote him letters, expressing her admiration for his bravery and begging him to return home safely.   Despite her father's attempts to marry her off to a suitable husband, Lena remained firm in her belief that she would only marry for love. She saw marriage as a means of enslavement and refused to be a pawn in her father's political games. Her defiance only fueled her father's anger, but her mother supported her daughter's desire for freedom. Together, they spent many long hours discussing Lena's future, and her mother encouraged her to follow her heart and pursue her dreams.   In summary, Lena's teenage years were marked by her growing independence, her love for adventure, and her defiance of her father's wishes. Her passion for sword fighting and horse riding, as well as her desire to help those less fortunate than herself, set her apart from the other young ladies of her time. Her relationship with her mother was a source of comfort and strength, and it helped to shape Lena's identity as a free spirit who refused to be constrained by the expectations of society.

Final days on Sassent

In 1253, after several years of absence, Thomase finally returned to Castle Sassent from the war. Upon reuniting with Lena, who had grown into a young woman, the two began to develop a deep and passionate romantic relationship. They would meet secretly in the Small Tower, away from the prying eyes of the castle staff and Lena's father, who would undoubtedly disapprove of their relationship.   However, it was not long before Auder caught wind of their meetings. The mere idea of Lena being with a commoner made him irate, and he promptly had Thomase imprisoned. Tragically, Lena's beloved was publicly executed the following week, leaving her heartbroken and consumed with grief. To make matters worse, Auder had Lena locked in her room, forbidding her from leaving or receiving any visitors.   Lena was devastated by the loss of Thomase and cursed her father publicly. In the depths of her despair, her mother came to her room in the dead of night, urging her to leave the castle and the city under the cover of darkness. "Go, my darling," she whispered, "leave the castle behind and be free, as you were always meant to be."   And so it was that Lena set out on her own adventure.

The Adventures of Lena

After leaving Castle Sassent, Lena travelled south, determined to leave her father's kingdom for good. The journey was long and arduous, but Lena persevered, driven by a desire for freedom and adventure. Finally, after many weeks on the road, she managed to sneak past the border patrols and enter the kingdom of Rasfadal, a land that her father despised.   At first, Lena wandered aimlessly, unsure of where to go or what to do next. But as she travelled further into the heart of the kingdom, she began to hear stories of bandits and outlaws who were preying on the local villages and towns. Having spent all her life within the safety of the walls of Castle Sassent, Lena saw this as an opportunity to help those in need and make a difference in the world.   Determined to do her part, Lena set out to find the bandits and put a stop to their crimes. Along the way, however, she quickly learned that a group of Burbric knights had entered the kingdom, searching for her. These men would stop at nothing to find her, putting Lena and everyone she came in contact with in grave danger.   Despite the risks, Lena refused to give up her quest. She continued to search for the bandits, honing her sword skills and learning to ride like a true warrior. Along the way, she formed alliances with other brave souls who shared her mission and her determination to make a difference in the world.   But as Lena and her companions drew closer to their goal, the Burbric knights drew closer to them as well. Lena knew that they could not outrun their pursuers forever, and that they would need to fight back if they wanted to survive. With her sword in hand and her heart full of courage, Lena prepared for the final showdown, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

This is particularly true when it comes to fighting for what she believes in or protecting those she cares about. She can also be quite prideful at times, which can lead her to act defensively or refuse help from others.

One of her noticeable quirks is that she tends to fidget when she is nervous or uncomfortable. She might fiddle with her hair, tap her foot, or play with a piece of jewelry or other object. This can be an indicator of her anxiousness or unease.   Additionally, Lena has a habit of being quite blunt and direct in her communication with others. While this can be perceived as a strength in some situations, it can also come off as rude or insensitive in others.   Another quirk of Lena is that she tends to be quite competitive, particularly in physical activities. Contacts & Relations

Lena's journey to the Swamps was fraught with danger. She had barely left the city of Thring when a Forest Troll ambushed her, ready to make her his next meal. In a stroke of luck, the Heroes of Rasfadal happened to be nearby and came to her rescue just in time. Igor, Sabrina, and Svarog fought bravely against the troll, while Duhbe used her Feylin magic to create a distraction. Lena was amazed by their skills and grateful for their help.   The group continued on to Thring, where Lena shared an intimate moment with Igor, but she knew that it was not safe for her to stay. The Burbric knights were still on her trail, and she didn't want to put her newfound friends in danger. So, she left quietly in the night, hoping that she would not be found.   However, fate had other plans for her. On her way to the Swamps, Lena was captured by a group of cultists who worshipped a dark deity. They took her deep into the swamps, where she met Trishula the dragonborn and Albion, a member of the Heroes' Guild, who had also been captured. Together, they formed a bond and plotted their escape.   Their chance came when the Heroes of Rasfadal, along with Joshua of Veryne, came to their rescue for the second time. Lena was relieved to see her friends again and decided to stay with them. They continued on their quest, rebuilding the village of Veryne after it was overrun by werewolves.   As time went on, Lena grew closer to Joshua. He was kind and caring, and she found herself developing feelings for him. Together, they worked to make Veryne a thriving community once again. Meanwhile, the Heroes of Rasfadal prepared to take on the bandit-kings of the Swamps, knowing that the battle would be a difficult one.   Lena felt a sense of belonging with her new friends and the people of Veryne. She knew that they were her family now, and she was determined to do everything she could to protect them.

Family Ties

Lena has a complicated relationship with her family. She was very close with her mother, who understood her desire for freedom and encouraged her to pursue her interests, even if it went against the expectations of their patriarchal society. Lena's father, Auder, on the other hand, was more interested in using her as a political pawn to make advantageous alliances through marriage. This created tension between Lena and her father, as she rebelled against his attempts to control her.   Lena also had a deep connection with her former teacher and lover, Thomase, who was executed by her father for their relationship. This traumatic event caused Lena to curse her father publicly and flee the castle with the help of her mother. She has a tendency to act on her emotions rather than carefully considering the consequences of her actions, which can lead to misunderstandings or even danger. Additionally, her upbringing as a noble has left her with a certain level of entitlement and a lack of understanding of the hardships faced by common people. This can sometimes make her appear aloof or insensitive to the struggles of others.   Overall, Lena's social aptitude is influenced by her strong sense of justice and her desire for freedom and equality, which can sometimes put her at odds with those in positions of power or privilege. She is observant and analytical, taking the time to assess the personalities and motivations of those around her before making decisions about how to interact with them. When she does speak, she is thoughtful and measured, choosing her words carefully to convey her meaning clearly.   Overall, Lena's mannerisms reflect her intelligence, her emotional depth, and her strong sense of independence.
