The Depths of Raemar is a sprawling subterranean realm that stretches out for miles beneath the surface, a labyrinthine network of caves, tunnels, and chambers. It is a place shrouded in perpetual darkness, where light rarely penetrates, and the air is thick with an otherworldly stillness. The depths hold secrets untold, and those who dare to venture into this foreboding realm must navigate its treacherous paths and face the horrors that lurk within. The overall ambiance is one of eerie beauty, with the occasional glimmer of luminescent fungi casting a purple glow, giving the entire expanse an ethereal twilight.
At a depth of 1500-2000 feet lies the domain of the Duergar Strongholds, where pale-skinned dwarves dwell, trapped by the mountain spirits in the perpetual darkness. Their cities, constructed of solid, angular stone buildings with towering structures crowned by vast domes, rise amidst the underground lakeshores. These immense bodies of water are interconnected by swift-flowing rivers, allowing for quick travel through the tunnels. Purple luminescent fungi line the tunnels, casting an eerie glow and creating a perpetual twilight. Beware, for this level is not only inhabited by the Duergar, but also by the Fishfolk, amphibious predators riding monstrous aquatic creatures, lurking in the central flooded caves.
Descending to a depth of 2000-2500 feet brings you to the Drow Enclave, a realm ruled by the dark elves who worship the Spider Queen. Once surface dwellers, they were deceived by ancient spirits, lured into the depths of the earth, and ensnared in eternal darkness. The Drow cities are majestic, crafted from tall spires carved out of stalactites and stalagmites, reaching toward the unseen sky. It is a haunting sight, where the Spider Queen and her minions reside within intricate weblike nests, ever vigilant against those who trespass into their domain. The air crackles with tension, and a sense of foreboding fills every corner of this level.
At 2500-3000 feet, the Abyss looms, blurring the mortal realm with the dominions of demon lords. The twisted terrain reflects nightmarish nightmares, with stone towers adorned in dead trees and fungus. Cracks reveal fiery depths, monstrous mouths swallowing the unfortunate. The path leads to a foreboding opening, revealing a demonic inferno. Within the Weeping Pit of the Deep Father, a vile lake, the monstrous deity dwells. Deception personified, it corrupts all with its two heads, hypnotic eyes, tentacled arms, lizard legs, and horned tail. The Queen of Rot's domain lies deeper. Fungus and mold infect all, while the Queen thrives in the Lake of Decay, infecting victims and turning them into mindless slaves. Decay permeates the air, with squelching ground and engulfing fungal growth sealing their grim fate.
