Session 28 & 29: Shargruk River Report
General Summary
Once untied, the party decided that the axe was too dangerous to take into town and should remain where it is. Vegam Yar volunteered to watch it with their ranger guide, Kasdan, while the others walked the last three hours and head to Grishnak.
While the others were away, Vegam Yar meditated on his faith and focused his energy in his ember. After several hours, the ember started to morph and unravel, revealing a Cinder Rat The small fire elemental rat seemed to listen to Vegam Yar intently and he spent the rest of the time waiting for the party to return teaching how to Seek and Strike. As the party took longer than the time Kasdan agreed to wait with the cursed axe, Vegam Yar was left alone.
Meanwhile, once the others reached town, they split up looking for aid for the axe. Roy Crown Royal located a priestess of Cayden Caileanwho gave him free ale and offered a barrel with divine abilities to contain the axe and its influence. Kartika Rogyapa discussed her complicated relationship with a priestess of Pharasma who was tending the graveyard of Grishnak. The priestess told Kartika Rogyapa that she had been marked by the goddess of death for breaking her word with her follower’s aid. All the faithful to the goddess would see the mark and if Kartika Rogyapa wanted to be rid of it, she would have to atone in some way. Kartika Rogyapa then asked if she could speak to a manager, in her best Karen Impression, and the priestess told her that if she wanted to talk to a Psychopomp then she would need to travel to the Boneyard. The young orc is considering her deathly options. Roy Crown Royal came to help, seeing Kartika Rogyapa seemed upset, but was waved off.
Meanwhile, Revnaa Noshk went to a priest of Sarenrae and implored his help with the axe. He told her he would come see if there was anything he could do, but he needed to heal the wounded from the last attack on the town. He informed her that some of the refugees from Manadh, the Darkened Peninsula up the river had been attacking Grishnak. Revnaa Noshk volunteered to assist him and together they bandaged many wounded (Revnaa almost killing one). It was here that Tyrinn Ironward’s raven flew off Revnaa Noshk’s shoulder and into one of the small hand mirrors in the town’s hall.
The party regrouped and began the trek back to Vegam Yar . They arrived to find him mid battle with more Draugr who seemed to be attracted to the axe. They vanquished the cursed Draugr and then had to contend with Revnaa Noshk grabbing the axe again, flying into a rage. Words were exchanged, Kartika Rogyapa used her ability to learn Revnaa Noshk’s weaknesses against her, but ultimately the axe was dislodged from her grasp. The priest looked at the axe and told them he could not undo the curse but he recognized the design from the same refugees that attacked Grishnak. The party decided to drag the axe to just outside the town’s boundary and go grab the barrel that Roy Crown Royal was told could contain its influence. When they returned, the Draugrhad continued to be attracted to the axe and find them when the party stopped. They were quickly dispatched, but Revnaa Noshk grabbed the axe again…
The session ended roughly 10pm in game. The barrel withCayden Caileanblessing on it is on the ground and Roy Crown Royal has Revnaa Noshk grappled, but not restrained.
