The Weeping Ruby

The great defeat suffered at the hands of the Apelong by the Gnomes during their settlement of Khogaya. It was the first large scale defeat of the Gnomes during their settlement of The Great Nest and has been highly romanticized with time by both sides of the conflict. The Battle resulted in many casualties for the Gnomes and resulted in the total abandonment of Khogaya.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Apelong had long warned the Gnomes to stay off their Nests, but the Gnomes, in their impetus to build a city in paradise could not contain themselves. Though Khogaya itself did not intrude on Apelong terrain, patrols, hunting expeditions, and building works often did, which the Apelong saw as a direct violation of their warnings.

The Gnomes abandon Khogaya. The Apelong see their first 'united army' to be a success and takes steps to make it a permanent institution.

Aftermath

• Adheran power shifts west, where Dvar is eventually founded.

• The Apelong retain the memory of their victory, and from thereon do not shy away from open war against the Gnomes.
