Panmoyanistic Church

The Pan-Moyanistic Church is the term used to decribe a set of widely-accepted religious beliefs and traditions from the planet of Moya, which were assembled as a standart set of reference for all Moyanistic religions to base themselves off of. This was primarily made as part of a diplomatic move that aimed to reduce the brutality of some traditions that were part of a number of Moyan faiths, in an attempt to make the planet's faiths look more civilized to the greater galaxy; and in a secondary instance, it was also made to introduce a degree of simplification between the various sets of beliefs of the different Moyan peoples and cultures.   The Pan-Moyanistic Church recognized every and all sets of religious beliefs and associated traditions from the planet of Moya, which have come to be referred under the collective term of Pan-Moyanistic faiths. All these faiths have the characteristic of being centered around large god pantheons with most of the deities resembling or impersonating natural features and phenomena.   The organization in charge of the religion is commonly referred to as the Moyan High Temple, with temples located in several cities across the planet, and is lead by "The council of 7", which represent 7 leaders of the 7 greater sub-religious families of the planet before the unification process begun.   The religion has a wide range of variations, sects and cults, most of which have distinct beliefs and traditions that differ, at least somewhat, from others'.   Most of the variations of the Moyanistic faith have now changed the more bloodier traditions into more humane ones, and some former sub-religions have merged into broader ones, unifying stories, tales, traditions, gods and beliefs into larger pantheons.   It is to be noted that there are at least 6 faith groups from the planet of Moya that, although considerable smaller in numbers, have strongly opposed joining into the Pan-Moyanistic church, 2 of which have faiths completely different from the apparent planet's tendency, while the rest have traditions engrained very deeply into blood and evisceration, so much in fact that they completely refuse changing them, as it would mean changing a vast majority of their whole culture. These groups are usually referred to by the name of Karashi, Foran for "solo, standalone; partypooper".

Varieties

  The largest sub-religions include:
  • Jimatran Church
  • Foran Church
  • Hilmayan Pantheon
  • Variations of the Southern-Velan region
  • Several Boreal temples
  • While faiths vary extremely, some common characteristics prevail, such as:
  • All of them, except 3 known instances of isolated tribes in northern Vela, have at least one deity representing the Mylagonara Ocean, with the vast majority of the representations being that of a young female with blonde-blue hair and clear eyes
  • -Most of them consider natural phenomena as divinities. The Jimatrans, for instance, have a divinity for the Karabo lightning; a natural phenomenon only ever seen occur in the Kare lake, by which, during thunderstorms, a high amount of lightnings fall on a particular area of the lake, an area which the Jimatrans consider an unholy place, as they see it as a gate to the underworld
  • All of them present at least 3 deities of natural origin, which tend to be, majoritarily, Moliya (the system's star), Malaka (a planet with an orbit larger than Moya's which is the next one outwards when counting from the star), and a variation of Cela, Zelha, Vela, Meroka, Goloa, etc (representing the ground, soil or nature).
  • Most of them share a cultural divine-like devotion for the color red
  • Most, specially the ones in Northern Vela, have a common belief that favors white as a near-divine color, often believed to shade away bad spirits, which has been theorized to be the main reason why many cities share white as the most used color for construction
  • Type
    Religious, Organised Religion
